Question about Canon FAXPHONE B640 Plain Paper Bubblejet
I went to use my fax today and after I tried to fax and it didn't go through it said In Use. I hit start and it says receive but nothing happens. Then I pressed Stop and the machine starts ringing. It says hang up phone but there is no phone attached. Actually I have the phone cord disconnected right now and it does the same thing. I then hit Stop and it goes back to the message In Use. How do I get rid of it?
It sounds as if your unit is busy trying to perform a function and is loading RAM to its max. Unplugging the unit allowed the electrolytic capacitors to fully discharge and clear this RAM. It was only temporary because the unit filled up the RAM when you plugged it back in and when it did, the unit became inoperable once again. The problem is finding out what functions, or checks, the unit is performing to fill its' RAM. It appears to be a memory problem at this point. What is causing this to happen will take further troubleshooting.
