Depending on what type of connection you're using and what type of TV.
To reset the video back to the basic default, push and hold the Power button when you turn on the PS3. It should be held down for about 8-10 seconds. This resets all settings to default including the sound and video. If you're using a HDMI cable into a HD TV, the PS3 will detect that straight away. If you're using the standard video connection (Yellow = Video, Red = Right Sound, White = Left Sound), then it should appear on your TV. Make sure you have the colours matched up on the back of your TV and that AV input on the TV selected. If this still doesn't work, try a different device in the AV input on the TV. ie. A DVD or VCR in the same input. This will determine if there is a problem with your TV connection or the PS3. If you get Video and Sound with the VCR/DVD, then it could be your PS3 AV cable.
One last possibility is that if you are using a TV that has both normal AV connections and S-Video (S-VHS) connections, make sure you are selecting the correct one in the menu on your TV.
See how far that gets you and if it still doesn't work, drop me a line and I'll think of something else.

Ok this happen to me. I just called the support people and i could barley hear them so i try to listen(if this ever happens to you wear you can't hear them.).... Ok i forget but you take ur disk out and turn your Ps3 off and then on and you ethir hold on to the eject button on the front of the Ps3 or the power button on the ps3. This should work. But make sure the disk is out. Post back to me if this works or dosn't work.

If you have a SD TV. ( standard display, not HD ) but chose the HD display option on system settings you wont see picture but hear sound. and same goes if you've chosen SD display but own a HD TV. so try to reset your system somehow or take it in for inspection.
