Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn't squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole, this is for the soap bottle also, there is a seal on the bottom of it as well. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix knob. Pump is bad. Try running a mix of vinegar and water to see if that unclogs the lines. Is the top cover and the base tight together in the back, sometimes the top breaks loose and it will raise up and it can't spray, just re-fasten it down.

Dirty Water drops behind shampooer

You are over sudsing your recovery tank. The machine is made to shut off the air flow if water starts to be pulled into the motor, but bubbles want trigger that. So if there are a lot of bubbles in your recovery tank, the get sucked into the motor (Which will destroy it eventually) and then the moisture gets exhausted onto the floor from the motor.

Solutions
1. Use less soap (Read the directions, you may be using too much)
2. Use a different kind of soap (The concentration might not be right for your machine)
3. Use a defoamer (Rug Doctor has a defoamer)

First off is the gasket on the bottom of the tank vavle or sitting in the hole. It has to be on the bucket. May have a problem with the handle not pushing the valve (in the handle)open when you squeeze the trigger. Check the back end of the top cover to make sure it hasn't broken loose from the base, if it has, that raises the top so water won't dispense from the tank. The draw back is that Bissell has obsoleted some parts for this model.

How do I work this dam thing?????

How do I work this?

How do I work this dam thing?????

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Bissell has a holding tank to the solution and the recovery tank for the water and soap you pick up -- -both are removable for cleaning purposes – there is a trigger assm on the handle to release the Bissell Soap or detergent that you are using – (low sudsing) and there should be a switch on the bottom of the unit to activate the revolving brushes. So the best way to shampoo the rug is to do it on the back pull – when you pull back you are dispensing the water solution and shampoo by squeezing the trigger assm, the brushes are agitating the carpet and the vacuum part is picking up the water. This is about as simple as I can get it – please refer to the owners manual for the trouble shooting part of the manual or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and in the yellow pages under vacuums, or call the Bissell factory phone # or use the website.
