Wireless connection to lap top

I bought a linksys wireless router which i've been using for my WIFI on my laptop for the last several months. My laptop recognizes the connection, says the signal strength is excellent and I have all green bars. When I open the windows explorer it says can not display page. I checked the tools option to make sure that it's not working offline so I'm not sure what the problem is. Please help

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

I have a Linksys WRT54G, I can connect my wireless lap top, however can not connect wifi IPAD. My IPAD wks at neighbors and public places...just not at home. Changed to Ch 11, WPA PERSONAL...any other...

I have that router and it is fairly simple to use. Make sure it is set to broadcast the SSID. Unplugging and restarting may help too. Make sure the router is using wireless "G" and not "B".

Although cable to desktop connects to internet, my router from desktop to laptop via router won't connect.

Desk top to internet is OK.
How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK?
Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router.
If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.

Dropping Connection

This link indicates there may be an issue with hiding the SSID in the wireless router. A security item employed by some users. IF this is the case consider broadcasting the SSID and employing WEP or WPA encryption in the wireless configuration for both the router and the adapter cards to secure the wireless connections..
