Go into my computer. Move the mouse to the cd drive icon. Press properties. Go to the recording tab and check the enable CD recording on this drive and adjust the speeds if necessary.

If your not getting this information to appear on your Cd drive settings it could be you need to load a driver up to get it to work or the CD drive went bad on you.

If the CD record control isn't picking up on the properties. It can't record regardless of what you are using.

    Good luck on that.

I don't know why you had to put two red marks down since this problem has been shown up twice.

Another thing you have to do with Nero is run the CD/DVD test to calibrate the drive for recording. Nero won't record unless you have done that.

If you have done it in the past you should run it again in case the confiuguration file for Nero got corrupted.

I am unable to format a DVD-RW disc on my Windows XP computer

Typically, you use DVD/CD writing software to write files to the disc.
There is no 'formatting' involved.
If, however, you want to use a DVD/RW disc as a "big floppy" then you need special software for that. What software came with your DVD writer? or You can use free "Nero InCD", -> Download

Hope it helps.

Note**
For OS XP, you must have at least, WinXP Service Pack 2 installed.

I m using samsung octo edge dvd writer in nero i m unable to find write dvd option How can i write/burn dvd plz help!

To use "Burn DVD video files" in Nero, you have to switch on Advanced mode instead of standard.

In my version, this is what the bottom right corner of Nero StartSmart Essentials looks like in the two modes.

Cd withthe writer

Hi!

You can use a 3rd party software to burn any data to a CD or DVD. You can use softwares like Nero, Roxio, etc. They usually have user friendly utility on how to burn files.

If you do not have any 3rd party burning software, you can use the built in utility from XP or Vista.

You just need to right click the files or folders you want to burn > select Send To > CD/DVD. Make sure you have a blank CD or DVD inserted.

Have a nice day!

CD Writer - unable to write

Please ensure the writing software you are using is set to write to a disk - not to make an image file or to test writing on the disk. Perhaps try another writing software such as nero.

Problem with burning dvd on imation dual layer dvd burner

You seem to have a related problem, you can't burn cd's and you cannot install windows without an error. Either your hard drive has a bad sector where it keeps trying to write the data or your dvd drive has a reading error. Firstly check your hard drive for errors, right click on your 'c' drive and down to properties, then click on tools tab, then error checking. This can take quite a while, so be patient. Secondly, there have been numerous updates from Nero especially related to Service Pack 2 so download the latest updates from their 'Ahead Nero' website, they are free as you are'nt upgrading just updating. Your ratings are important
