I have a Dell Dimension 2400. I want to upgrade from 512mb of memory to 1GB. The manual says I have two memory connectors. Do I get the 1GB, or two 512mb to upgrade? Thank you for your response.

Hello

Yes, you can upgrade your system upto 2GB RAM, buy another 512MB RAM DDR 333Mhz and install it to empty slot of RAM, it will upgrade the RAM to 1 GB.

Hope it will help, if so do rate the solution

Good Luck

Upgrade ram

In order to upgrade the ram of your desktop. First you have to check the ram specifications. If wrong specifications the desktop will not work. To check you have to remove the ram from your desktop by removing the screws behind your desktop. Open the lid and you will see the contents of your desktop. Besides of your processor, there is ram installed. Unclip it. Then bring that ram to the computer shops. Purchase a ram higher than the ram installed in your desktop. Afterwards, install the new ram to your desktop. Good luck.

There is no reset just because you added memory.

If you have 2- 1GB sticks, try both , one at a time.

Your system spec's and manual tell nothing which dimm banks are suppose to be used , and if you can install 2-1GB sticks,
all it says is it can handle 2GB.

Now it says 512MB, sticks, this could mean you can only use 4-512MB sticks to get too 2GB,.

Now it does not tell which dimms are used if you have 2-1GB sticks,

You have 4 slots, the first two and the second two, most times, you either use the second bank of each pair, or the first slot of each pair,
but as I said, your system does not say.

So you can try both ways and see if one of them work.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but you system has a poor manual
on memory placement.

I want to upgrade my lenovo laptop ram memory from 1gb to 2gb by adding one more stick. i currently have ddr2 PC2-5300(333MHz) latency 5 5 5 15 2T RAM my friends advised me that BLUE SCREEN ERROR occurs...

The rule of thumb with RAM is to always buy matching pairs. So instead of buying one new stick of 1gb its a better idea to buy two of the same kind and replace the one that is currently in there.

Before you even think about doing this, head over to lenovo's website and make sure that the computer is compatible with 2gb(from the speed of the ram im assuming that it will, I don't know of many DDR2 computers that cant have 2gb.) you may also be able to get ram that is faster if it is compatible, The website will have all this info.

Upgrade Ram - what do I buy?

This is what the spec says. - DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SODIMM socket for expansion up to 2GB SDRAM

If your computer currently have 1GB of RAM. Its high possible there is 2 sticks of 512mb in there right now. so you will need to get 2 1GB memory since you will need to take out both of those sticks to put in these 2. There is only 2 slots.

Increase RAM for motherboard K7S41 to 1GB.    1) Do I use 2X516MB cards? If so what type?    2) Do I use 1X1GB card? If so what type?

If you want 1GB , Especially if your motherboard supports Dual Channel Memory capability, then you will want 2 512mb sticks.

However, I seen in some instances that purchasing a 1GB stick is cheaper then purchasing 2 512mb sticks depending on where you shop.

Try looking around on Newegg (personal favorite for shopping computer gear) or other places and see the various prices.

Another thing, to determine the ram you have in your system , I reccomend a few utilities to familiarize yourself with your computer.

One of them is called Belarc Advisor, and the other is SISoft Sandra which will identify your motherboard and tell you the memory type and timings so you can write down this information to take to the store you are shopping at so you do not get the wrong kind of memory by mistake.

Vista will not be the culprit here. The beep most likely meens that thee is a problem with the memory stick itself, especially if it boots normally when you take it out again. Motherboards are mostly designed to take identical sticks of RAM in pairs (Same brand, same model, same amount of memory) and sometimes, you will find that different manufacturer's RAM will not work in some systems.

Check to see if the RAM stick you are putting in is the same brand/model as the one already in. Also check to make sure it has the same amount of RAM on it. It could also be defective.

I hope that helps
