The cover has 3 bolts, open refer unit door, in the ledge of the box just above the door, you will/should fined 3 screws. Remove them and tip the panel toward you slowly, release the two springs and remove panel. Good Luck
If the fan under neath is running, and the light is still on, look real close at the coil and into the fins for dirt or lint, they get very dirty, when they are running its literally cleaning the air. If the unit has metal with a screen as a schroud and fan guard, you can use water to clean but the water you use will run onto the floor, I have used hand squirt bottle for washing the coil. If the fan schroud in made of a card board only use air, water will distort the card board and stop the fan from spinning, why so I know this? If you use air to blow it out using a vacuum will help control the dust.
It does appear that your side by side refrigerator has an ice maker, so that rules out any extra water from a faulty valve. I think the seal on your freezer door may be broken/torn. Usually there is no water (per se) in the freezer, but as things thaw, or as the door is opened it can create condensation that leaks. The freezer will retain cool for a while but eventually things will thaw out and water will leak. Please check the thermostat for the freezer, and make sure there are no containers leaking in the fridge portion. Good luck.
I believe the suction sound you hear when closing the frig/freezer door is the warm air that was introduced into the unit actually shrinking as it rapidly cools. This creates the vacuum which makes the door next to impossible to open until the air pressure stabilizes.
sounds like you have a blocked drain tube....when defrost system kicks in the melted water runs down a tube into a tray adjacent to the compressor and is evaporated by the heat. when the tube becomes blocked the water has nowhere else to go except overflowing and out through the refridge vent down the back and onto the floor of the refridge.
If you are hand with tools i can explain a procedure to fix this problem, If not call a service guy :)
I had the exact same problem. It was the evaporator coil had a leak. The coil is covered under waranty the labor is not! It was $295.00 labor and $48.00 for the gas recharge.total $343.00. Hope this helps! Yes, the price was high but it fixed the problem.
