Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

PSP "DISK COLUD NOT BE READ"

Please help me I have had my psp for around two years and last night I shut off my psp (I did not put it into sleep mode). When I turned it back on all I saw was the wavy backround and no icons, (music, games, videos, internet, settings) none. I discovered that if I pop the disk out my backround loads, but when I put the UMD back in I had the little wavy circle in the bottom right corner. After about 5 minutes it said "DISK COULD NOT BE READ". This is the same message I get for all my disk. I tried them in my friends psp and they worked fine, so I know it is the system. I have read many blogs and tried many solutions like pulling the battery for a while, reseting all the settings, blowing on the laser, and I have heard that you can take rubbing alcohol or Windex and put it on a q-tip or a lense wipe and wipe it over the laser. I have yet to try the last suggestion. I need your help. I have noticed that when I open the disk case and pull out the disk there is a little black switch inside of the disk case. I pushed it and the laser went red and went up and the disk revolver started to spin. There was one problem the laser kept moving up and down. I am not sure if this is normal. I have called a friend to see if his does the same thing but he has not responded. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

If you are willing to void your warranty you can fix it easy. What you are going to have to do is to take apart the PSP by yourself. There are 4 screws on the back. 3 of them are visible, the last one is in the battery compartment under the sticker written on about voiding your warranty. You rip that sticker off and then you unscrew the last screw. The front of the PSP should come right off. From there you can clean, fix, replace and do what you need to do to the PSP. I hope this helps you.

Hello fellow gamer :)

It sounds like your PSP may be damaged or the battery is not taking a full charge. If possible, can you try using an alternate battery? If this does not work, you may want to contact Sony for technical assistance.

I have seen PSP updates brick a PSP before and it has to be reset or fixed by Sony.

If it is under warranty I recommend calling them.

Psp wont read any disk or play any video on any websites

Did you happen to play a "pirated" copy lately? PSP has new safeguards that literally shut down your unit if suspected pirated software/codes/hardware are used... if not, try a hard-reset (refer to owners manual) and see if that solves the problem!

Hope that helps!

PSP installed 5.50 , old games not working

your psp was hacked and when you updated it you put the OEM sony software back on which does not read games from the memory stick. Your only solution is to re hack the firmware.
