Hi zachmiller

You may need to update the driver for the device if you. I purchased on of these 8 years ago, and waited several years to for them to release new drivers for XP. Go here and select the correct operating system, download and install the new driver and see how you go. Any dramas, happy to help out

Hook up to a computer with aux cables

use a y connector with the 1/4 inch jack into 2 RCA plugs, plug the 1/4 inch jack into the speaker plug (on a desktop) or the headphone jack (on a laptop) and plug the RCA plugs into the AUX on your receiver. note the red and white colored plugs and the red and white colored ports on the receiver.

How do I play music from my lap top on this sound system?

your laptop has an audio output jack that is 1/8 inch sterio .. your sound system likely has RCA input jacks .. you can get a cable from radio shack that has a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) sterio plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other ..
plug the 1/8 inch jack into your computers audio output (headphone jack) .. the RCA plugs will connect to the AUX (analog) input on your sound system .. select AUX on your sterio system to select the computers input .. now you should have great sound from your computer . the computer likely provides only sterio information so the multi (7) channel feature of your sound system will have to fake it ..

Record from turntable to computer via Pioneer SX-737 Receiver

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Pls be informed that the model was not displayed, only the brand Pioneer.

Nonetheless and assuming that the turntable is built-in into the receiver, locate the REC out or LINE out at the rear of the receiver. Plug the RCA of the cable there while the 1/8 plugs into the AUX/LINE IN of the computer. Select PHONO in the receiver, in the computer, double click-on the speaker icon in the System Tray (clock). The speaker control window will open:
  • click on Options;
  • click on Properties;
  • tick/click Recording;
  • check Line in and/or Aux;
  • press on OK button;
  • adjust Aux/Line in setting to desired level.
It is of course necessary to likewise be running a recording program.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Sub woofer

Hello,
The subwoofer is totally independent from your Pioneer VSX-D412. You can check if it works like you did with a finger on the hot point of the RCA cable (not very good test, as you will hear noise and can't say if that means it works OK) or better connect a known receiver to the speaker connections in the sub and test to see if it’s working properly.
Regarding the receiver, you may not have enabled the VSX to output to the sub. Read the manual on how to check for that. Only Dolby Digital 5.1 signals will allow the sub out, in a receiver of this level. It normally will not let you use the sub in stereo mode. Some more complex units will allow you that, but I believe not this model.
Good luck
