Question about Vtech 5.8GHz Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System
When there's an incoming call, the phone only rings once. I tried calling from my cell phone and after it rings once, there's static and my cell phone says "call suspended by network".

The VT-9118 can use one of 4 different ring tones, and can be turned off.
To reset your ring tone:

The problem may be a short on your line. (Have the local Teleco check your line.) If you have other phones, you may want to check them for dial tone(DT) when this happens. If you have no DT, your cordless may be the problem...unplug, and let charge overnight. If problem continues, replace the battery in cordless, or discontinue use.

When you unplug everything connected to the phone jack what happens? If it works, you have too many ringers or a short on the line. If it still trips the ring, you have a defective box.
