My whirlpool GEQ9800P dryer won't start. The light is on inside, and there is no lint trapped in the exhaust in the rear. The lint trap looks OK too. How can I remove the front panel? Will that give me access to the motor, etc.?

It is probably the thermal fuse which you can get access to from the front bottom cover. It is about $15 and most parts stores have it in stock. Need 1/4" wrench to remove. Clogged vent tube is most common reason for this going out so pull out and vacuum out well too. Make sure you unplug the dryer first.

My Whirlpool gas dryer is not working

Instructions

1
Check that the dryer door is closing completely. Remove anything that blocks the dryer door from closing.
2
Ensure the "Start" button is pressed firmly to start the dryer cycle, the dryer is not overloaded and the clothing is not balled up. Any of these things can prevent the dryer from operating and/or drying the clothes.

3
Use a level to confirm your Whirlpool dryer is sitting flatly and evenly on the ground. Adjust the dryer as necessary for it to be level as the dryer will vibrate and make unnecessary noise when sitting unevenly.
4
Examine the inside of the Whirlpool dryer drum and in the space around the drum for loose change, pens, hair ties and other items that could have been left in the pockets of clothing. These items will cause noise and potentially cause the dryer to become inoperable.
5
Examine the Whirlpool dryer's lint trap for excess lint. Remove any lint from the trap and place it back into position. Always clean the lint trap between dryer cycles. Inspect the area around the dryer and in the ventilation and exhaust systems. Remove any built up lint and clean the area thoroughly. Built up lint is a fire hazard and can cause operating issues.
6
Check the gas shutoff valve if your Whirlpool dryer is gas powered. Ensure the shutoff valve is turned all the way to the "On" position.
7Check the electric plug and ensure it fits securely in the outlet.
8
inspect both the fuse box and circuit breaker for any electrical problems. Replace any blown fuses, if necessary, and reset the circuit breaker if it has been tripp

Whirlpool dryer ler7646eq1 will not heat

First the most obvious and you've most likely covered yourself look at the lint trap/if clogged clean thoroughly with vacuum cleaner pull out lint trap and **** up as far as deep as you can get some of the lint that you don't see and believe me there's a ton depending on your exhaust/vent type . Next go outside check the vent attached to the outside of home for clogs/lint buildup lastly here's a trick I've personally used SEVERAL TIMES on my old ge dryer if you have a LEAF BLOWER pull dryer out of the way and next go outside remove exhast vent usually 4 phippls screws going out next remove vent/trap outside go back inside and use the leaf blower to blow out all of the lint caught in the vent tube your be surprised how much was in there. HOPE this quick fix addresses your dryer issue if not its most likely the dryers thermostat they're fairly cheap online. Just trying to save you a buck friend. Have a good day Ryan in Minnesota

underneath the lint trap is the sensor, it is dirty. You will need to clean it, just be gently as if not you may break it, when you look down the lint trap it has two screws. Here is a web site that will help with the dissemblance of the dryer :

I smell a burning smell from the dryer. I was running dryer a lot today and tonight I smelt something burning when I opened the door. I noticed my light catcher was full, could this be the problem?

Yes it could have been the lint igniting in the bottom of your dryer in future clean lint trap after every load and take trap door out and vacumn inside trap at least once a month If you ignore the lint trap you could end up with a serious fire so take care of it when you remove screen a certain amnt of the lint falls down into the bottom of dryer and after time a buildup can ignite.. more serious with a gas dryer as the igniter and burner is at the bottom of most gas dryers

Whirlpool Gold Dryer GEQ9800PW1

take a screwdriver and push it in below the door at the top of the bottom panel, near each end of the panel, there is a springclip to pry on that that releases the panel and it will fold out and then lift off. then you can get access by removing a few screws.
BE SURE TO UNPLUG BEFORE WORKING ON IT.
