My gas dryer runs fine, it just has no heat. I would guess it needs a new heating element. Can someone offer advice about how to replace it and what part I need?

i have a maytag (MDG9316AWW) that will not heat, ignitor is working, gas is on, same as everyone else but i have an additional problem, my timer does not move whatsoever, wherever i set and push start it will just continue forever until i have to manually go open the door, are these two issues related?

  • clb77581 Dec 13, 2008

My Maytag MDG9316AWW gas dryer is not heating. I heard that a thermal fuse generally causes a dryer to stop heating. I don't know how to check the fuse or where it is located. I also noticed that the vent hose has a hole in it, and may have lint clogged around the hole. Will this prevent the dryer from heating? If not, can someone tell me how to check the fuse and where it is located? Thanks.

It may be this: They had a problem where the wax switch would go out and short out a resister on the motherboard. There was a recall on this but it has long since passed. You need to replace the wax switch in the door and the mother board.

SOURCE: my dryer runs but no

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....
Good Luck!!
Thanks for using FixYa!!
