Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV460 Digital Camcorder
Hi there! I have the exact same problem as the one below with my Sony Handycam DCR-TRV460 at this time. Will you please describe to me how to use the screwdriver, lint free cloth, and alcohol to clean my tracking head?
Thank you very much.
Comment by Rifaa, posted on Sep 12, 2007 Okay, if the counter is not advancing it means that there is no tracking information. Counter won't work when playing unrecorded tapes and if the tracking head is dirty, so the likely fault is the tracking head is dirty. Without the trackijg info, picture won't get proper sync, no sync means blue screen and no counter advance.
What do u think? Comment by Rifaa, posted on Sep 13, 2007 If U are upto it u can too do it, all u need is a screw driver and a piece of lint free cloth and some alcohol.

your guides have come loose , probably - the digital sound will be next to go because the bottom edge of your tapes are being folded - open the cassette tape lid by pressing the small pin near one hinge and gently lifting the door - if there are any creases ? get the guides aligned ! to protect your library ; ( if there are no creases , try a sony d8 cleaning tape - once ! before getting a repair quote ) ;

Funny thing. I just had the exact same problem with mine on 12/09/07. I did some research on line, it's the CCD. Call Sony support. 1-866-703-7669. I just did today. They will not admit to anything being wrong, but they will go through the reset process, which doesn't do anything. Otherwise they will issue a work order #, email you a ups label, and off to Laredo, Texas it goes. 7-10 days later you'll receive a call with their diagnosis and probable cost.

SOURCE: cannot view playback!!!!
First thing to determine is if your (Playback Mode) is set for Auto or Hi 8 / 8. Select VTR setting and then select Menu. Scroll to PB Mode and select Auto. Now try playback.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.
