My head unit has recently started having problems with the OEL Display screen. It started acting like it had a short in it somewhere by not working sometimes and then all of a sudden start working. Now it doesn't come on at all. I've already replaced the ribbon tape going to the front faceplate a few months back. The unit works perfect other than the OEL Display not working. What's causing this?

The change in the backgroung color of the OEL display is totally normal. This funtion lets the display works in two modes rather than only one to prevent OEL display damage, it is like a screen saver. I had the same model I bought
Sounds like a wiring problem. check the connections on whatever is easier first (radio/speakers) if the connections are good you may have to trace the wires to see if there is a break or short somewhere.
Has it always been like this? I know that the display inverts automatically to save the life of the OEL...otherwise the brightness of the same pixels being on all the time will cause the OEL to 'burn-in'
If that isn't the problem, the OEL is going bad. They can run about $100 and usually aren't worth repairing.
