Question about Maytag MDB7100AWB Dishwasher

Maytag MDB9100AWW dishwasher stops after first wash in cycle

My Maytag MDB9100AWW dishwasher has worked well for for many years  (at least 5), however, it now fails to transition to the next wash for a given cycle.
When pressing NORMAL WASH cycle button, it will fill the tub and do the  pre-wash.  At the end of the pre-wash, it fails to drain the water. It sits  idle for 10 minutes, and then the minutes display goes dark/blank and the  CLEAN indicator and the LIGHT WASH indicator will flash repeatedly.   During the ten minute delay, the digits on the minute display will dim for about one second. This dimming occurs about once per minute.
Pressing DRAIN/OFF twice clears the display, then pressing DRAIN/OFF once runs the pump and drains the tub.
This behavior also occurs when pressing the LIGHT WASH button. I have not tried the other cycles.
Any suggestions on how to diagnose the root cause of this problem are welcomed.

Same model, stops with 32 minutes left on automatic wash cycle. If one opens the door, waits 30 to 45 seconds then shuts door the drain cycle resumes normally. The problem most often occurs when the machine is run more than one per day. donmjames@ykwc.net

SOURCE: dishwasher doesnt drain on wash cycle,ok on rinse cycle

Change the circuit board, timer/progrsmer.
Take it out and clean contacts,
Look for burnt circuit line and solder a fine bead carefully on the circuit board, difficult. Use the pot and pan program.

Dishes not coming out clean

Hello

There are some things you can try, however, if your Maytag dishwasher is not getting your dishes as clean as you would like. Maytag recommends several processes for fixing this issue with your dishwasher.

Do not run your Maytag dishwasher while hot water is being used in other parts of your home, such as washing clothes or showering. Hot water is needed for your Maytag dishwasher to properly clean dishes.

Run water in the sink in your kitchen until it gets very hot. Then, turn on your Maytag dishwasher. This will ensure that the water cleaning your dishes is the hottest possible temperature.

Clean your Maytag dishwasher to improve the cleaning results for dishes. Run your dishwasher on a short wash cycle and wait for it to fill up with water. Stop the cycle and add about 1/3 of a cup of rust remover to the dishwasher and finish the cycle. Run your Maytag dishwasher through one normal cycle with regular detergent to finish the cleaning process.

Check your detergent. Old detergent or those that have been exposed to moisture can be clumpy. This detergent will not clean your dishes as well when loaded into your Maytag dishwasher. Purchase fresh detergent.

Use extra detergent when washing dishes that have a lot of built-up grease or food particles. The extra amount of detergent is needed to get your dishes clean. Choose a long cleaning cycle to clean these dishes.

Fill your Maytag dishwasher properly. Dishes should not be stacked on top of each other or excessively crammed into your dishwasher. This will keep the dishwasher from adequately cleaning all areas of your dishes and from rinsing them thoroughly.

We have this same model. Right under the 5 yr warranty mark, the control panel started going "funny". Some of the buttons stopped working, then more. We could finally get it working only in one mode. I was certain it was the control board, which I replaced under warranty just in time.

This lasted another year, until moisture began appearing under the number window and the left side button set stopped working. Now the right side is gone, except for the delay-start button.

I believe moisture is getting into the control board and frying it, either slowly or quickly. If you are seeing similar problems where buttons seem to stop working, it is PROBABLY the control board. It is a relatively easy home repair if you know your way around a screw driver.
