Question about Dewalt DW056 18 Volt Cordless Impact Driver - 1/4" Drive Hex Shank (Battery Charger and Case Not Included) - Tool Only

1 Answer

I just bought a DW735 planer and ran a 6" x 24" piece of 3/4" poplar through it, with the planer set to remove 1/16" of thickness. I used the speed 1 (slow). It ran through fine, but I got several irregularly spaced ridges about 1/64" to 1/32" wide that ran the length of the board. The ridges are about 1/64" high, protruding up from the main reduced thickness of the board. The same thing happened over and over again. Is this normal? Do I have to return the machine for a blade change? I have not taken the machine apart to inspect the blades.

Where is the ridges happened at the begining of the board or at the end of the board. if its the middle of the board the problem is the roller sleeve may be worn.secondly the roller may have lots of sap from the wood/varsol can do job for cleaning the roller. 3. is the balde. see for the parts diagram,in large the picture

Cannot find a manual for a part number. A generic model should work. The charger should be about 6 vdc output at 1-2 amps. The output plug is one of 4 or 5 types. They are measured by inside diameter, outside diameter and length.

Lost of power

Pull the brushes out - remove 3 screws holding gearcase to handle & remove gearcase with armature from handle.
More than likely you will find the field inside the handle is melted down & binding the armature up. Depending on how long it ran smoking you may have cooked the armature as well.

I bought new batteries for ,my dewalt dw958 drill and when I put the battery in, the drill ran for about 45 seconds then started to smoke and the drill died. The batteries are dewalt 18v xrp batteris

I am thinking the switch or motor is bad, check the switch first. you can locate parts at Make a wiring diagram before removing anything, these parts are polarity sensitive.

Having charged both batteries the drill will not work. It seems to not get any power.

Hi there, let me see if I can help.

1.Since this is a 4 piece kit, test the batteries in some of the other tools to make sure the batteries are good

2. This could be a malfunctioning unit, If you just bought it, take it back to the store and get a replacement, (you may have to take in all 4 and do a complete swap but most home improvement stores have no problem doing this)

3. The Forward and Reverse selector just above the trigger is stuck in the middle meaning, the drill is not in forward or reverse and when you press the trigger nothing happens. See Page 15 of this PDF for more information.

4. If none of this works, there is a Recall for that Battery Unit. Check This PDF to see if what you bought applies.

Hope this helps.

I think this is supposed to be same as a Grizzly G0689 Go to . put in your part number and click on parts. It looked like sears had a lot of parts available, but not the cutterhead. You might try looking to see if the blade has moved in the cutterhead, throwing it off center.

No special tool - and it is a clearance fit. May be "aged" in place.
Use a small torch and heat it up a bit (just the gear - then a brass hammer to separate the gear from the shaft.
Wait for the shaft to cool and clean it well before installing the new one.

I have a new belt for the feed roller on a hmt-260 scheppach planer/thicknesser but i don't know how to release the tension off the wheels to fit the new belt.

Hello there J Prosser. I also have a HT260 and the belt has just today broken after 20 years - admittedly with sporadic use.
Where did you find your belts from and how did you fit it? it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know.
MANY thanks in advance.

How i remove a dewalt drill chuck Model dc988

put the drill in speed setting 1 before you continue~!

Step 1. This step loosens the screw inside the chuck. Open the chuck all the way — if you see a screw inside, it’ll need to come out before you can remove the chuck. If there’s no screw inside, you can skip steps one and two.

Step 2. If there’s a screw inside the chuck, typically the threading will be left-handed, so turn it clockwise to remove it. Be careful, and use the right size screwdriver — you don’t want to strip the screw.
step-2.gif Step 3. Insert the largest hex key that you have into the chuck, short-side-in, and tighten the chuck. Tap the hex key sharply in a counterclockwise direction to loosen the chuck. Now you can remove it by hand.
step-3.gif This won’t work for every consumer drill ever made, but pretty close. Most drills will match one of two common chuck-threading standards: 3/8′-24 threaded mount for 3/8′-capacity drill chucks, and 1/2′-20 threaded mount for 1/2′-capacity drill chucks — but on some drills just the opposite may occur. To be safe, always check the thread count before you buy a replacement drill chuck.
