Question about Raymarine A65 Combo GPS Chartplotter/Fishfinder

RAYMARINE First of all, hubby is electronically challenged, our boat is equipped with hi-tech Raymarine. We noticed yesterday, the marking of our boat on the screen, identifying where we are, has disappeared. Also, our depth finder works now and then. I'm sure he has pressed a button somewhere that needs to be "reset" to default system.

If this is a "C" or "E" series unit, you can perform a factory reset by (starting with the unit off) powereing it on while holding down the first softkey. By that I mean the first key on the bottom of the display closest to the power button. Hold that first key until the unit finishes the reset countdown and begins to reboot. NOTE this will delete an saved waypoint that you may haveso if you have a lot of info stored that you need to keep, you can back it up by using a blank CF card and pressing the "Data" key and choosing "Archive and Transfer".

With the charts page up, start by hitting the find ship softkey at the bottom of the screen. If that find the boat on the chart all is good.If not you need to check you have a GPS fix. Go to GPS screen and see you are seeing satalites.
If all is good when you hit find ship and the boat disappears again from chart while underway you will need to go into the chart setup menu and see if the screen amplifier is turned off. If off turn on.This is first place to start. Hope that helps

Fuses blowing on raymarine e series 125 chartplotter

It sounds like the fault is within the plotter itself. There should be any component, which shorts with main power supply, causes the blow of fuse to overload. I do advice you not to try to repair it by yourself, and contact the authorized service center.

Cut antenna wire raymarine 300waas gps

That unit uses a TNC connector. Just have someone install a new one on the end of the cable. IT's a little more difficult than a F connector for a TV but not rocket science. You can also send it in to Mid-Shore Electronics. Just google them and get their number. They have alot of experience with the older stuff.

Raymarine G-series. How do you reset. We have

Call Raymarine Tech Support or your installing dealer. The G series equipment is the cream of the Raymarine crop and troubleshooting it is not common knowledge even for dealers. Get your info right from the horse's mouth.

DSM Port on RayMarine C80

The only other way would be to change the PSU board in the unit. The connector back plane is connected to this board.I am a authorized Raymarine repairer. I could drop ship you the board from Raymarine and email you an instruction manual on how to change it.I am not located in the US so shipping the unit to me for repair becomes expensive. You can also check with your dealer in Seattle first but I do not think that he can buy the board from Raymarine. Raymarine policy on repairing product is different from country to country. We are on the other side of the world so Raymarine allows us to repair there product as it is to costly to ship it all back to there repair facility in the states or the UK.If your unit is still under factory warranty then if you open it it will void the warranty. So then you would have to send it to Raymarine. With a diagram if you are natural a technical person you will not have a problem changing the board. If you are technically challenged I would say send it to Raymarine. Hope this helps.

Raymarine gps sounder

This is a common problem if the GPS is hooked up to an electronic heading sensor such as an autopilot. If the heading sensor is not calibrated properly, the boat will appear to be facing the wrong direction.

If you have an autopilot, consult the installation guide and perform the sea trial procedures. That should get your boat lined up properly.

Raymarine A65

When the engine starts, there is a voltage drop as the starters crank, followed by a power surge as the alternators kick in and the voltage comes back up.

Ferrites are only there to prevent RF (Radio Wave) interference from other onboard devices.

You should either:
-add an isolated battery to the boat to service only your electronics. That way it is unaffected by the starters.

-There are several devices on the market like Newmar Power's "Start-Gurad" that automatically switch electronics to backup power during engine start. They work great and the electronics don't skip a beat.
