Is Velbon/Hakuba still in business? For tripod repair?
I tried contacting Hakuba USA to get info about getting my tripod repaired, sent email and never heard back. Dug around their website and it looks old... are they still in business? Any suggestions for getting my tripod paired.
a 6ya Expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to an Expert (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Sorry that I can't give you a definitive answer, but Velbon do not publish a spares catalogue.
Spare parts are usually available for current/recent models but you need to contact Velbon directly via the web address given below; it takes you to another page which is appropriate to your country. The part which you're after is called a centre column crank handle.
Velbon are at the budget end of the market so spares support and repairs have never been that great, but the company do sometimes simply post you a new tripod instead of repairing the old one.
Note that if you're in the UK and the tripod has failed earlier than can reasonably be expected then it is covered by the Sale of Goods Act (SoGA) for up to six years. Note that it is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is liable under SoGA and the manufacturers warranty is in addition to your statutory rights.
I have the Hakuba HG-503MX which came with basically the same pan head you have already attached to the center column. First remove the center column from the tripod, with the pan head attached. Tighten the knob that prevents the pan head unit from rotating 360 degrees on the center column and gripping the head with one a hand and the center column near the plastic plate firmly twisting the head counter clockwise. The pan head will unscrew from the plastic plate which sits on top of the center column, given enough force. My pan head was also very tightly screwed onto the shaft, since it came already attached to the tripod. Hope this is helpful.
