OK-So it turns itself on and off-It channel surfs on its own-It raises and lowers the volume on its own at will--Keeps popping up the menu, and sometimes pops up a menu that seems to be factory settings like tube type and things of this nature, not accessible via the regular set up menu---what gives? This thing is only about 18 months old-I called RCA and they were frickin clueless..

Hello jpatton82,
Don't call a priest just yet! :D
What I want you to di is first unplug the TV. Then find the connector for the front panel controls, and unplug it (You may need the schematic to find this). The take the fascia if the TV off to expose the front control board, and the remove the retaining screws and take it off. Once the controller if detached from the TV, clean it with circuit cleaner solvent (This should remove any contaminates from the board and contacts). Once the board is dry reattach (and plugged back in to the circuit board) it and put the fascia back on. Turn on the TV and see if this works, if not the check the integrated circuit uses the control board as input check and see if its bias voltages match what is in the book, If the IC is defective replace it if you find the voltages are normal then try to see if their might be IR signals from other sources that could produce these results..
This should help for now,
Contact me via this post if none of these tasks work.
Thank you,
