I have yellow hue band across the top and bottom of the screen. The picture has been darker than usual. I've adjusted the color and settings, but have the same display. The sound quality and everything else is ok.

I actually have this television because my friend gave it to me. He had bought it about 3 years ago. He said the problem was that one day only static appeared on the screen. The sound worked fine. He had it checked out and was told that the problem was with the light machine, which as it turns out zenith no longer makes. This however seems kind of weird to me considering the menu still appears when you press it. Does anyone know what else this could be?

The yellow spot is due to the BLUE LCD and/or lens assy cracked, reason, to much HEAT! The blue is the darkest color and hold the most heat, so it goes first, always! In some cases it’s only the lens, however most of the time LCD is damage to. Parts are available, however install and alignment is timely. Quick fix is the complete light engine, which for model# E44W46LCD is part# 3141VSN916C, which customer cost is $1,449.27, wholesale for about $1,065.21. Rebuilt, if you can find it around 850.00 to 950.00. However the rebuilt does not always look as good as factory. My advice, TRASH set. This part will fail again in about 3 to 4 years, unless you watch a lot of white video. Remember, on a black or dark picture, all three LCD are blocking 100% of the light, causing extreme heat within the light engine. It’s a bad design.

SOURCE: yellow haze

The blue filter is burnt out. A very common problem in Zenith DLPs. There are 3 color filters, 1 blue (a pinkish color), 1 green (a grayish brown) and 1 red (it is red) they give you your colors for you picture. This is a simple fix.

I changed the LCD lamp, but there is still a yellow haze.

The yellow haze is the result of the blue polarizer burnt-in, you will find it sitting in front of the dlp chip.

Yellow haze

Hi...the yellow haze is probably the blue filter is burnt and needs replaced. This is very common in Zeniths. There are 3 color filters in the Zeniths blue (pinkish in color), green (grayish in color) and the red (it is red). The #1 problem in this TV is the blue filter is burnt and it is an easy fix. It could also be the LCD cube is bad. I would try the blue filter replacement first. It will probably do the trick.

throw the set away!the part required to repair the set is the optical engine.Zenith made alot of these sets with defective engine assemblies in wich the lcd filters burn, which cannot be replaced. The labor is also silly.Theunitrequires a complete teardown for replacment. You could buy a very nice new set for the repair bill

Yellow haze in center of screen

Typically caused by a defective light engine. Part is over $1000 last time I checked on it. Could also be caused by a bad "digital board". I've seen this symptom more than once on this set.
