Looked at carbon brushes, they weren't worn down much so put them back on. The machine is working again but making a slight screeching noise when it goes round. Can they possibly work loose as the machine had been moved for cleaning before the problem?

Possibly the same fault. if the commutator is faulty, brushes will not last long

unlikely to work loose and in any case if this had happened, they would have been loose when you looked.

however, brushes can stick in their holder and you may have freed them without your realising it.

I have just replaced the carbon brushes on my Bosch classic 6 washing machine and wasn't convinced that I put one of them the right way round. The motor is now working ok but it is making a highish pitched...

I would not think putting the brush in the wrong way round would make a high pitched noise. I would look for something rubbing against the drum or check the bearings of the drum or armature of the motor.

My hotpint machine will fill with water but the drum will not turn at all

When the drum is supposed to turn do you hear the motor running? if you do all you need to do is put a new belt on. if you do not hear it running it could be the carbon brushes which are cheap to replace. to replace carbon brushes buy them from hotpoint make sure for your model then open the cover at the bottom back of machine with screw driver. when panel open you should see motor. on the motor there should be white clips on each side unclip this and you have got one of the carbon brushes replace them as the way they came before you tock them out put cover back on and test it on a spin cycle. make sure machine plug is unplugged when you open the machine.
if the carbon brushes when you take them out are long they are ok if they are short you will need to replace them. if you put new carbon brushes in and still won't work then it is control panel which needs replacing witch will cost a lot. hope this helped.

Bosch WFL2450 Washing Machine wont spin cycle

Hi there, this problem sounds as though the carbon brushes are needing replaced or infact just needing to be cleaned of dust or dirt. Its very common for the brushes to be covered in dust and fibres. Im not sure where the brushes will be on this model but I hope this helps you in someway.

Hi, Does the drum turn during the wash cycle? When it comes to the spin cycle does it go through to the end without the drum turning? It sounds like it could be the motor needs new carbon brushes. Regards, Tom.
