Question about Hoover S3639 WindTunnel Bagged Canister Vacuum

On/off switch does not work

The on/off switch does not work. There is no 'click' as usual when it is depressed. I took the top of the vacuum off but cannot figure out how to replace the switch.

I can only turn the vac on and off by plugging and unplugging the power cord.

Hey,

Are you 100% sure it's the switch? I have the same vacuum and it stopped working and I also took off the top only to find that a twisted wire (red) behind the motor wore right through and wasn't making contact.

If it is the switch, it looks like you have to sqeeze the ends and push (NOT pull) it through. The problem then is that you'll run into the ON/OFF button. Now the problem becomes how to remove the button, and I don't know how to do that.

Panasonic vacuum cleaner just stopped running

Set the on/off switch to off, now check near the top of the "beater" portion, I think that model has a reset button, you should hear a slight "click" when depressed. Try turning the vacuum back on.

Dc17 won't turn on

there is a reset button under the cover that houses the on/off switches. remove the handle/wand and look on the back (where the top of the hose sits) for 2 screws (its a torx/star head screw size t10 i believe). remove them and locate 4 small locking tabs that hold the switch cover to the frame of the vacuum. Depress them and pop the cover off (2 towards the top and 2 towards the bottom). Youll see 3 switches (2 square red buttons and one small cylindrical shaped one). Push the small red one (the one to the left if my memory serves me right). you should hear a click. if you do than the switch is reset. if not check all connections to all 3 switches. if you see nothing loose or not connected, you may need a new brushbar motor.

Take the handle off, then remove the tool holder, then you can get to the switch. Just has tabs on each side of switch, depress them and push it out. These switches will do this after awhile, replacing them is usually the way to correct the problem.

Replace on/off switch on hoover vacuum

My wife picked one up on the side of the road that someone had tossed. The power switch would not turn off. I took the two bolts out of the top part of the handle, and then removed the screws along the back. This will remove the required panels to access the On/Off switch. Once I found the actual on/off button, I found it to be frozen in the "ON" position. After manipulating it for a few minutes, I got the switch to work. This machine now operates great, and I now have a Hoover :)

Central vacuum won't turn on

Check your filter to make sure that it is seated completely in the unit. There is a switch at the top that the filter has to press before the unit will run. It is there to protect the unit from running without a filter. If you remove the filter, and look up into the unit, you will see it. It's a longish white plastic piece that you can depress by hand. Listen for the faint click while you are inserting the filter to be sure the filter is depressing the switch. Good luck!

I cannot figure out how to use my cleaner floor mate

At the risk of giving a simplistic answer, let me go through the steps I go through every time I use mine:
1) Plug it into the wall
2) Take out the upper "hopper" and fill it up to the fill line with hot water
3) Put in the capful of cleaning solution (about 2 oz.)
4) Gently swish it back and forth, then put back into upper unit until it clicks into place
5) For best results, set the vacuum on Dry and vacuum the house first, then clean the lower "hopper"
6) Set the vacuum to Wet, put the scrub brushes on, depress the trigger and do overlapping strokes, a section at a time I depress the trigger on the push stroke, then release it for the pull stroke. I clean a section, then turn off the scrub brushes and go over it again without the scrub brush or touching the trigger (trying to pick up as much water as possible).

On average, when refilling the water/cleaner solution for the top hopper, empty and clean the lower hopper. When the floors are finished, completely clean that lower hopper or it will smell!

Hope this helps...

Self propell feature not working

You can order the lever for the transmission on line for about $16.00. It comes as a cable and lever assembly. I just took the top cover off and replaced the lever without doing the cable. The reason ours broke is because we lifted the vacuum by the handle without the self propel bing turned off, this pulls on the actuator and breaks it.
