Rinse cycle starts and inputs cold water and pumps out till what appears to be final rinse when no water input - drum rotates. Flashes error 1 and several beeps but have cleaned the filters.

  • rosemarywigg Jul 13, 2008

I would be surprised if it is a pump as the problem is lack of water in the drum on the last rinse ie the rinse that washes the conditioner from the tray using the left (look front to back) inlet valve. cold this valve fail to open - if so why

    thanks

  • rosemarywigg Jul 14, 2008

re my washer problem - i have added a comment to the first solution as i do not feel it is a pump problem. I would just add that on final rinse the fabric conditioner is not cleared from its drawer compartment
    thanks

Dear customer,
i would recommend you to do the follwoing before going for any replacements

Before checking the filter screens, unplug the washer or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The hot and cold water from your home connect to the water inlet valve on the back of the washer. In each end of the water supply hoses there may be a filter screen to catch debris and prevent it from damaging the washer. The water inlet valve also has filter screens. If the filter screens become clogged, the result is low water pressure, no water or the wrong water temperature.
The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connecting to it at the back of the washer. Start by turning off the water supply at the valves on the wall. Disconnect both hoses from the back of the washer. Place the hoses into a bucket and turn them on to confirm that you are getting adequate water pressure and to clear any debris from the line.
Inspect the filter screens on both of the hoses and the inlet valve for debris build up. If you find any debris, clean it out. The screens in the inlet valve are not removable so use caution to avoid damaging them.
If you are getting good water pressure and you find no build up of debris, then the inlet valve itself may be faulty. This should help solve the problem..

Thanks for using fixya.. Please rate this solution..

Hotpoint washing machine wf640 there isn't any water coming through when the rinse cycle is on

could be the filter at the water input location in the back of the machine. Or the screen filter at the spigot-end of the input hose....check both hot and cold. First, turn both hot and cold water off at the wall outlet.

I have been given an LG WD 1049c front loader and am not sure which section the powder goes in. The tray has three sections?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.
In a few cases I have come across, the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hi I own a Defy Automaid 600 and has never used fabric softener before. How do I go about

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It's very easy- you pour it into the conditioner tray before you start the washer- like the detergent/powder- and (normally) the washer directs water into the softener tray on the (final) rinse.

Hey, in which dispenser number do you put washing powder and fabric softer 1 or 2? Thanks

1 is usually for pre-wash, 2 for washing powder and fabric softner goes into the section with the level indicator should be small square section with removable top.

Pre-wash light keeps flashing

The pre wash light flashing is usually an indication that the washer has failed to take in cold water, possibly due to low pressure, or restricted inlet hose.
If it does it when it is the rinse mode, then I would suggest you check the filter is not blocked.
Remove lower rear panel, remove large black hose to bottom of tub
Remove filter inside and clean., check inlet to pump as well.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Not sure if you've ever resolved this issue, but I'm dealing with it myself. I have come across this service manual that gives a very detailed illustration of the systems, how it works and how to test it.
Focus on pages 15 thru 25. Hope this helps you.

Hotpoint washer Won't rinse

your cold water valve will be your problem or you've turned the water supply off, if the supply is not off put the machine on to the final rinse if it fills it will be the main rinse valve gone. The cold water valve is a double one with 2 solaniods. Unplug the machine turn water supply off remove fill hose there are 2 screws keeping the top on, remove them lift the lid off.undo the screws that keep the valve on, take note wiring and remove pull the black hoses off, replace with new one. The resistance of the valve will be around 3.4 kohms

Washer stops dead immediately prior to final rinse

this sounds like the conditioner solenoid, this is the cold water valve that works as the final rinse is suppose to work, just before the final spin, check valve connections for open circuit electrically, work safe unplug from power supply first, if i have helped please rate me
