nslo, tell him to try replacing the power supply first, power supplys burn up ALL the time, as long as the plug fits and it has a rating of equal or greater amperage, same voltage, equal to or greater watts then it will work. Those variable voltage multi plug ones they sell at k-mart work but I've never had one that lasted long.

what the above guest said is exactly what you need to do. Make sure of course there is nothing on your FAT(previously exported songs/masters) because they will be erased. just go to menu->disk->fat reform, then press enter

SOURCE: memory poor

This is an error in Tascam's code that usually means 'out of disk space'. Try using 'delete unused' to free up some space first within the song you're on and after that you might consider backing up some songs to your PC and then deleting them from the DP-01 to free up more disk space.

Hope this helps.

TASCAM DP-01 won`t startup

Press and hold down the "track edit" and the "shut down" buttons while turning the power on until it says "-init screen- please wait". It will ask you if you want to initialize hdd. If so press yes/enter. This Will wipe your hard drive clean. If no just press no/exit. This works on the dp-01fx. It should work on the dp-01 as well.

Tascam DP-01FX/CD wont turn on

Refer to your manual (1st) It appears that "maybe" your unit may be
locked - until you get through the menus - and type/press EXIT.
If you don't have a red indicator light - lit. Turn off power switch (rear)
and unplug unit for 1 minute. Plug in - then turn on switch (rear)....if
still no red indicator light....you'll need either Tascam or Samsung
tech to service your unit. Good Luck.

Dp-01fx tascam

Since the unit powers up and displays an error message it means that the power supply is working to some extent. The hard drive is probably malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. The DP-01 I have uses an 40 pin IDE 3.5" hard drive so finding a replacement should be easy unless it needs special formatting like TIVO drives.

As for the first solution - why do you think a PC hard drive needs -5v? The PC drive power connector has four pins - two grounds, 5v and 12v.

No HDD:20 Please PWR OFF

It means the harddrive has crashed. I have the same model. It is a manufacturer flaw. You can try saving your recordings on external devices or contacting Tascam directly.
