TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING Note: System can learn up to 3 different codes max. 1. Turn Ignition ON and OFF 3 times quickly, leaving it ON the 3 rd time. (ON/OFF, ON/OFF, ON) You should hear (1) short chirp. 2. Push the Program/Override Button for 5 seconds until the siren chirps (3) times. Release the button. The system is now in programming mode. 3. Press Button #1 on new transmitter - siren will chirp to confirm programming. Repeat Step 3 within 5 sec. for up to 2 additional transmitters. 4. Turn off Ignition. Note 1: If only one transmitter is being programmed, continue pressing button #1 until dash LED flashes goes out and the system chirps to exit programming mode to prevent unauthorized codes and noise from entering the system. Note 2: Programming mode is exited automatically after 5 seconds of last code transmission or once 3 new codes have been programmed. The LED will flash (4) times indicating program mode exit.

ck for a fuse in the under the hood fuse box that says bsm may be blown.
Also try this.....
To reset the security system remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, then reconnect the cable. Next, lock and unlock the doors using the remote. This will reset the alarm system and the engine will start and fobs reset.

Here are some factory notes....FYI

PROGRAMMING

NOTE: If a new Smart Entrance Control Module (SECU) is installed, a new identity code must be entered and all remote controllers must be programmed. If identity code cannot be entered, repair multi-remote system. See appropriate MULTI-REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.

PROGRAMMING > PROGRAMING NEW ID CODE

NOTE: This procedure will erase all previous identity codes and render all previously programmed remote controllers inoperative (until reprogrammed). All remote controllers to be used with system must be programmed at the same time. A maximum of 4 remote controllers can be programmed. Any attempt to program more than 4 controllers will be ignored. If same identity code is entered more than once, entry is ignored even though hazard warning lights will still flash twice.
1. Close and lock all doors. Erase original identity code(s) by inserting and completely removing key from ignition switch more than 6 times within 10 seconds. Hazard warning lights should flash twice. Turn ignition switch to ACC position.
2. Push any button on new remote controller once. Hazard warning lights should flash twice, indicating identity code has been entered. If identity code cannot be entered, repair multi-remote system. See appropriate MULTI-REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
3. For each additional remote controller to be programmed, manually release door lock and lock again by using door panel switch and repeat step 2. If no additional remote controllers are to be used, exit programming mode by unlocking and opening driver's door.

Please let me know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Happy mew Year!

Can a new remote be programmed if alarm is set?

Hi Kim, When you ordered the new key the dealer should have asked for the chassis number? That gives them the codes to pre program. so that it should activate and deactivate the alarm, if that is the problem! ? Regards John

If unlocking the Van via the door locks wont disarm the alarm it's because the alarm harness have become detached. The door panel will have to be removed and the harness manipilated manually to disarm the alarm. Or you can have a new remote programed

1996 Grand Cherokee keyless entry problem

That remote should not be able to  be programmed by you, it needs to be programmed by the dealer using their computer.  I know that some later and earlier models can be programmed by the user, but I did some research on this as i have a 96 as well and it seems the 96 was a dealer computer thing.  If you in fact bought the remote from the dealer they should be willing to program it for FREE.  Otherwise I was given a $30 estimate for the programming.

94 jeep GC alarm problem

Hi....
To program the RKE (remote keyless entry) on your jeep g cherokee 94.
Follow this steps.
But maybe you will need to do more than one time.
Because some times require a few intents.

but if you have 1 remote programed all ready. you will program up 4 remotes.
If you don't have any one programed and you can't programed with this steps.
You will need to BUY the RECEIVER that is located on the ROOF CONSOLE.
Because some times come damaged....
