Mine does exactly the same thing, and I was just trying to explain it to the store where I got it. Its off for repairs so it will be interesting to see if they come up with an explanation. I hate the stupid thing!

Carol this is a frequent problem with new netbooks,it seems when they leave the factory this is not taken into account. You should be able to manually configure the settings somewhere. Also certain types of wi-fi protocols are suseceptable to sever forms of interference(for instance in wi-fi Cybercafes) or even from consumer goods such as microwave ovens, try to configure the settings first.

what you can do is-hold down the power button until all the lights go off.once it is done turn on the pc and start tapping the f8 key repeatedly.it will take you to a screen which says advanced boot options.here using the up and down arrow key select the option last known good configuration and hit enter.if everything goes fine your system should boot without a problem.

The keyboard on my new HP mini311 has a mind of its own, with the cursor jumping around the current document in some random order - it is driving me crazy!

Are you sure that you are not accidentally rubbing against the "touchpad", which would cause the cursor to move?

Problem with my laptop cursor or touchpad

The first step that you should try is to reinstall the touchpad drivers.
Still no good reinstall the OS,
Still no good replace the touchpad.

Thanks

Still on Wireless Problem

If your laptop is the 4520, you need to download and install one of the wireless drivers (last 2 on the list) from http://www.laptops-drivers.com/acer-notebooks/free-download-driver-acer-aspire-4520.html (Check to see which one your laptop has, in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager.

If it's the 4530, look here http://seoroot.com/blog/driver-downloads/acer-aspire-4530-and-acer-aspire-4520g-windows-xp-drivers-download.html

Please check if the physical volume switch is not muted. Also, please check for the hot key for mute. It might have been enabled. Thank you. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. It is due to the touch pad being to sensitive. My fix was to buy a usb mouse, and disable to trackpad by hitting the Fn key and F7. No problems anymore

Sounds like a driver issue. My touchpad goes crazy sometimes and I have to reboot, especially when it gets a little wet on the touchpad.
