Hi
Short answer - no. If the hard drive has been formatted then all your data will be lost. Depending on what computer it is, you may have a recovery partition which can be used to re-install windows. This is usually accessed by holding a key down as the computer is loading up - try F11 to start with, then any of the function keys. If it does have a partition then just run through the process - It should be relatively easy to use.

However, if there is no partition you will need to try re-installng windows from a disc or you could try booting ubuntu (a linux operating system) off it's live CD which will at least allow you to use the computer.

Hope this is of some help
Philip

There are several applications that advertise the ability to unformat hard drives, here are a few I've found, though I have not used them:

http://www.restorer2000.com/

http://www.sharewareconnection.com/titles/unformat.htm

http://unformat-ntfs.qarchive.org/

Some of these are shareware, some have demos but require purchase to actually complete the unformat.

Also, recovery will also depend upon whether the drive was just formatted or with data was overwritten by other files.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I need to reboot my lenovo pc to original setting as i have put wrong programmes an the c drive is nearly full

okay, get a porable device such as a portable hard drive and copy everything to it, then put your laptop back to factory settings, it will wipe your hard drive and then install the original soft ware but make sure to copy all items, including your install setup programs so that you can install what you need, if you have the operating system (windows disk) then you can also format your hard drive, this will delete your whole hard drive and when its done it will reset, enter your BIOS and reinstall windows, this may take between 2 to 48 hours depending on your hard ware installed.

Can i format device without deleting content on hard disk

You cannot format any disk without losing everything. When you format a drive you are essintally bringing it back to the state of it's first use. If you can, transfer the data to another storage device until after the format.

Hardware - the hard disk is mechanically about to die. Recover your files as fast as possible, while you still can, then replace the hard disk.

Computer will not load windows

The message 'Diskette drive 0 seek failure.' is saying that there is any error trying to read 'drive 0'. As you can see from the list, drive 0 is 'ST3250820AS . 3 . ANG'. That is your hard drive that stores all of your information. Your other drive that's coming up is 'drive 1' or 'SATA 1' and that is your DVD/CD-RW. So basically your hard drive can't be read and therefore the PC can't be started. If there is data that you need on the PC I would advise contacting either a local PC shop to try and get your data recovered and put onto a new hard drive if they find that the drive is faulty. If you don't have any data on there that is essential, try reinstalling the operating system by starting up the PC with your recovery disk or operating system disk and following the directions. Make sure you read the instructions properly to insure that you install properly.
