I have mine for about a year and a half. After about 45 minutes the picture goes from normal to a rapidly-flashing green and sometimes becomes pixelated during these outbursts. If I turn it off for about 15 minutes or so it comes back on, reluctantly, turning first reddish, then green and then will perform normally for another 45 minutes. I don't hear anything abnormal. Not sure about the fans but I would say this might be heat related. Does anybody know if this has something to do with the bulb or is it something much worse and how much would it be to fix?

I have had my t.v about 1.5 years, and I had the same problems. I had the t.v. serviced and was told it was the optive lense, which is the main part of the t.v.

It seems like the color wheel might start to fail.
Do you hear any abnormal sound(s) from the TV when ramdon color appears.
Would you be able to check and make sure all the fans are working properly?

I have a 50 inch DLP samsung and it wont power on after making a lot of noise (I replaced the lamp) worked fine for a few days now the red light and the right side green light is blinking. any sugge

The answers above are correct. It's either the lamp or the color wheel. Testing the lamp is pretty straight forward. Use an Ohm meter to see if the it's filament has continuity. It's unlikely that a good color wheel would fail immediately after changing the lamp. Look to see if some wiring is out of place and rubbing the wheel causing the noise you described. A jammed but otherwise good color wheel would cause the TV to shut down and display an error code.

I have an RCA M50WH72syx12, 50" DLP.

Yeah could be expensive if it isn't the lamp.
Mind you could be a little easier, might just be a fuse on the video relay. If you are confident in being able to open it up, check the relay that runs from the video input to the power capacitors and there should be a small fuse along that circuit.
If the fuse has a broken capsule then you may just be in luck. Failing finding a broken fuse, then I would agree with you on the bulb. But check the blub for any markings or cracks because they usually only make noise when the vacuum fails.
Hope this helps and good luck mate! :D

you could have a color wheel problem or a power supply problem

one questions did you reinstal the door at the rear
you might want to remove the lamp module and try a reinstal and see if condition changes
as to costs if you can get the color wheel 150.00 or so
there ae several things that could cause this a dmd module a color wheel and power supply or digital board the lamp cover when installed it closes a saftey switch there thats why i ask if you has installed door

I have the same problem, TV is only 3 years old. Already replace bulb once and helped for a little while. The more I check, this sounds like a very common problem. Hmm...maybe a class action suit?

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

RCA 50" dlp lamp dead?

There are many different problems with RCA televisions. One could be a color wheel. Another could be a bad ballast. www.Lamp-Replacement.com has a guide and solutions for your RCA lamp 265866 or 270414. The problem is most likely a bad ballast, which is supposed to pre-charge your lamp and ignite it. If you aren't even getting to that stage, you can trace the problem to another component or power supply.
