ATAPI DVD A DH168BSH configuration incomplete or damaged

Try uninstalling the DVD drive in the Device Manager in the Control Panel, then do a graceful shutdown of the PC. Power the PC back on and see if it finds "new hardware" and installs the driver. I take that you have an Acer Aspire PC.

You might try to go into the device manager and remove the device. Then let Windows find it again.

If this doesn't work, we can try something else.

The following worked perfectly in restoring the CD-ROM drive:

The following steps were posted by skidzy on the pcadvisor.co.uk forum:

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=284747&forumid=20

Follow these directions for clearing the Upper/Lower Filters: (might want to print this out)

1. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key ( if Vista Start search or windows+R )
2. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or
3. clicking the "+" next to it.)
4. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key
5. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key
6. Expand the "Control" Key
7. Expand the "Class" Key
8. Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
9. High light this key by left clicking once on it
10. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete"
11. Please exit the registry by clicking on the "X" in the top right hand corner of the screen

Reboot your computer.

If in any doubt editing the registry, please create a System Restore point first and also backup your registry.

Pioneer dvd driver has stopped working

to go to system registry click on start>all programs>accessories>run then type regedit and press enter. Don't change anything unless you know what you are doing. It sounds as though it could be a driver problem though, try updating the driver from device manager. Right click the device and click on properties then update driver.
The only other solution would be to restore your computer to an earlier time when you know that the drive was working properly. Click on start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date when you know everything was working okay. I hope this helps.

My DRU-510A ATA DVD-RW wont work with my pc it keeps saying that the registry is incomplete or damaged an keeps saying something about code 19

Maybe the registry was damaged because of a virus. You can go to www.dowload.com to get the drivers and install it again. If you know the brand of the dvd, you can go to their webside and check that code.
