Question about Belkin Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have (stupidly) disabled the NAT feature of my Belkin wireless G router, without specifying an IP address to access it, and so can get no access to the wireless network from any pc. Is there a way to enter the router to re-set it or correct the problem. Because it won't recognise me I cannot access it using the normal ip in the browser. Cheers!

After trying the above and it not working I read that if you unplug the router and hold the reset for 20 seconds whilst re-powering it should reset and after this I followed the instructions and all is well.
    Thank you Spin!!!

To turn the NAT feature back on in the belkin router, just reset it.

And you can always tell what address (known as the gateway address) access the router, which ip,

by clicking start, run, and then type cmd and click 'OK'

in the black window that pops up, type 'ipconfig' without the commas and hit enter on your keyboard

look for the default gateway

if nat was on, or after you reset it,

its 192.168.2.1

type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of internet explorer to access the router

most routers default password is ither admin , or password

spin

I disabled the nat on my wireless router and now i can no longer access the router setup page by typing the ip address in the address bar

That is because your router essentially no longer has an IP address. If you need to access your router configuration, you will need to re-enable NAT, which means factory reseting the device. There should be a recessed reset button on the router, most likely on the back. Hope this helped.

At any cost do not disable the NAT - because thisis the feature which allows multiple device to work with router

So only option you've got now is to reset the router. It should be at the rear end of the router. Hold onto it for 30 seconds, u'll see the light flash and router reboot

Once you've done with that - configure router and make it work.

And as of for the Xbox Issue try these steps:

1 - Assign a Static IP address in the Xbox:
- Go To Network Settings - Configure Network
- Change IP settings to Manual
- IP Address: 192.168.2.45 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.2.1
- DNS settings to Manual
- Primary DNS: 192.168.2.1 Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.2

2 - with any of the Wired Computers
- open IE - type - 192.168.2.1 - u'll get the Router Interface
- left hand side in the list of options
- click Firewall - leave password blank - disable and apply changes
- click Virtual Servers;
- under enable place a checkmark
- description : Xbox, Inbound Pot : 80(if there are two boxes here duplicate in both the boxes), Type: TCP, Private IP: 45, Private Port: 80
- So Similarly fill up the table for these following Ports
TCP: 80, UDP: 88 Both(TCP&UDP): 53, 3074

Additional Note:

If u've a DSL connection, call ur ISP and make sure ur modem is bridged and the NAT is disabled

We've just moved house and have aquired to belking routers a belkin wireless pre n and a belkin ADSL G Plus MIMO I want to use the latter as a bridge how can I?

You need to access the setup page of your Belking router and go to the wireless setup, look fro Use as Access Point, now just a reminder this will defeat the NAT IP sharing feature of the router. Configure the IP address of the router to the same subnet as the network your tying to bridge here's the more detailed procedure:

1. Enable the AP mode by selecting "Enable" in the Use Access Point only page. When you select this option you can now change the IP Settings.

2. Set your IP settings to match your network. Click "Apply Changes"

3. Connect a cable from the LAN port of the router to your existing network.
