It is very hard or almost imposible to use a ipod with a mac and a pc they use different formats to format the ipod.

but there a two different ways of doing it the first is using windows to format it should work on the mac and the second is install a program called xplay from this will enable your pc to read mac formated diskes and ipods

When you say "i added windows 2010" I assume you mean Office 2010.
If you downloaded a copy from a website then you probably did'nt pay for it and it's not a genuine cd key you used when you installed it.

You can get cheaper versions than the retail versions if you are a student.

Try a store like Goodwill. You might also visit a computer store which recycles computers for customers. They most times would be happy to donate an older machine that will work for you.

What are the main things we should consider, when we buying new desktop computer...?

You should consider the amount of RAM (how fast the computer runs) I would recommend a minimum of 2GB , then also the amount of HD space (the memory you can store things on like pictures videos and music) I would recommend a minimum of about 250GB or more if you have a lot of pictures and videos or like downloading a lot. You also need to consider the screen size , most screens are about 15-17 Inches but if it's a Apple iMac like mine you can get a lot bigger screens with a maximum of 27 inches which is HUGE! but those are usually EXTREMELY expensive and are usually used for video editing , games and designing. So i would recommend about a 17-19 inch screen depending on what you want to use it for. Then there is also what OS (Operating System) you want but before you can choose that you need to know if you want a Apple iMac or a Windows PC . Once you have chosen you can get an iMac with the latest OS Snow Leopard or if you choose Windows you should look for Windows 7 the latest from Windows. Also what sort of disk drive it has e.g. DVD re-writable or a light-scribe but those cost a lot. Then there's the processor i would recommend Intel . And lastly the amount of ports e.g. USB , Memory cards. Check how many USB ports there are those are the most commonly used ones.
Thanks and I hope this helps. ;)

I cannot delete folders i put on a 1gb memory stick from my imac, i get error code 1407 or "you do not have sufficient privileges" messages

This is something I have found... Read on

you probably will not like my solution but my problem was only a mini external drive with about 20 files. I opened each file and <save> to another drive. For me it was easy, I saved to my HD. Then open Disk Utility and <erase> my mini drive, which remformatted me a clean and usable drive. Then just copied the files I saved and DONE.
