My flash stopped working as well, not in burst mode. It always shows the no flash icon on the right of the screen. All my pics come out blurry. So frustrated. When I touch the flash, where there used to be many flash options, now the only one is no flash!

I had the same problem, "BBWS" found this "solution":
Turn the camera on as if to take photos (not to review photos).

Press "Home" (upper left corner)
Press the camera tab (bottom left-most tab)
Press "Scene Selection (SCN)"
Press "OK" at the "Select type of scene" prompt

However, I still don't have flash available in the PGM or AUTO modes, which tells me it is still broken.

I poked around some more and found that "somebody" (SO) put the camera in burst mode. In burst mode, the camera will continue taking photos as long as the shutter is held down, and the flash will be disabled. The burst mode icon looks like a stack of photos and appears in the upper right corner under the photos-remaining count.

Press the Menu icon, the first item is REC Mode, set it to single shot.

My camera wont flash ... How do i get it to flash ?

Most cameras have a button that looks like a lightning bolt. Hit that button and it will usually switch between flash options or it will bring up a flash menu. Some camera modes will automatically set your camera to auto flash, so if the room is dark, flash is on, and room is light enough the flash shuts off. You might need to switch to a different picture mode, like P or Programmable that lets you manually set your camera options.

Canon G9 Flash not firing and not able to find flash on the menu

Assuming there's not really a fault on the camera. Have you got it dialed into a pre-set photo option ? This may negate the flash. Suggest going through the settings menu, putting everything to auto and trying again.

Flash does not work

Please note that:

1. You can not use the Flash when the Camera is set to Burst or Multi Burst mode.

2. You can not use the Flash when the ISO or Twilight mode is selected in the Scene Selection.

3. You can not use the Flash when mode dial is set to Movie.

Also try these steps and check:

4. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and the flash is turned ON.

Please set the Landscape mode or Snow mode or Beach mode in the Scene Selection and check if the flash is working.

5. Try initializing the Camera and check if it works normally.

NOTE: Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

6. Please press the Menu button on the Camera. Then, select the SETUP menu and select the SETUP 1 option of the Camera. Then, select the Initialize option to OK.

7. Try to power reset the Camera and check if it helps to resolve the issue. I suggest that you reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.

8. If the issue still persists then the Camera requires service.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

I bought a Sony DSC t700 approximately 6 months

If the built-in flash does not function, then the camera may be set to Auto and will only flash when taking pictures in poorly illuminated environments.
To set the camera to the Forced flash setting so it will flash regardless of the surrounding brightness, press the UP ARROW on the control button until a lightning bolt icon appears on the LCD screen.

If the Forced flash setting is already enabled and the flash is still not working, then the issue may be due to another camera setting. Even if the Forced flash setting is enabled, the flash will still not work in the following circumstances:
When shooting MPEG movies
When set to the Twilight mode
If an external flash is connected
If in the Burst or Multi Burst mode

Please touch the MENU option on the screen of the Camera.
Then, select the REC MODE under the MENU.
Then, select NORMAL under the REC MODE.

If you're not able to select the NORMAL under the REC MODE, try Initializing the Camera.

First, please touch the HOME on the LCD screen of the Camera.
Then, select the SETTINGS in the HOME menu.
Then, select the MAIN SETTINGS under the SETTINGS.
Then, select the Initialize under the MAIN SETTINGS.

If the issue still persists after performing the troubleshooting steps provided above service of the Camera is required.

It's required to physically examine the Camera to determine the exact issue at the service center.

Flash not working

I had the same problem with my flash not working on any setting, but I found a way to fix it: hit the menu button, make sure the "rec mode" choice is set to normal instead of burst. I think the burst mode takes multiple shots in a row, so the flash isn't compatible with that setting?

Flash can not be turned on

I had the exact same problem as Dude2891 and it took me ages to work out what was wrong. The problem turned out to be that when I first got it and was playing with the menus, I managed to put it on burst mode, and in burst mode flash is automatically set to off. So you need to turn it on, press menu bottom left and scroll to REC mode (the first option) and then check that you're on Normal not Burst. That fixed it for me! Hope that works guys, let me know how you get on.

Did you try to reinitialize? Setup menu go down to the third Setup#1 menu and make sure you click OK to reinitialize. That's what the manual said.
