The picture went black but we do have sound. It was running perfect and picture was great until it just went black.

If this is a Toshiba 61A61 rear projection. First you have to determine if it has high voltage. You can find this out by looking at the end of each picture tube where the socket is to see if there is an orange glow indicating that the filaments are lit and the set has high voltage. If they are not lit then I know from experience with this set that there is a bad connection on the deflection board where the high voltage transformer is located. The HV transformer has red wires coming out of it. You will have to turn the deflection board upside down and look for the bad connection. But first just tap lightly on the deflection board with the handle of a screwdriver to confirm the bad connection. If the set comes on you will be required to solder the connection with a soldering iron and rosin core solder. Now if the orange glow is there you have bad capacitors on the hyper module. The hyper module is located to the right looking from the back and stands upright and is soldered to the main board. It will be required to unsolder and inspect the capacitors for bulging at the top. The hyper module is likely to not be available anymore. Changing the capacitors will fix the video problem

My toshiba 65hx81 cut out lastnight. All I have now is the red flashing pwer light. Where do I begin? Do you know what the issue might be? Thankis, Kyle

Frist Kyle count the number of blinks on the set when it shuts down, this is an error code related to the problem area., The most common failure in this model is the deflection power supply board. This board provides high voltage to the picture tubes and related large signal circuits. You may want to check the horizontal output transistor for shorted condition, if it is found to be shorted replace it an the flyback transformer as these two work to gether to produce the horizontal frequency to produce the high voltage.

Can i put a 57H82 power supply - deflection board in my 61h71 the 2 board look almost exactly the same exept for my pd0074c has 2 caps after the bridge rectifier and the other doesnt but all plugs are the...

As long as the part number for the power supply is the same, yes you can. the thing is that even though if they look alike it might not work, that's why you need to check to part number, remember, they need to be the same one... you'll be able to findit on the back of your power supply

Toshiba model 61h71 red light comes on /no picture or sound

We had the same problem, open the panel on the back of the tv, the board on the left, not the one with the convergence chips. Inside the tv u will see a piece of paper with the fuse info. The board on the left unscrew it and flip it away from you, the fuses to test are at the bottom, on the circuit board it will say 125volt 5 amp, and the number starts with an f. they are small and rectangular and black. Check all but the 3 at the bottom are usually the culprits Hope this helps u
