My WD-65c9 boots to welcome screen then shuts down with a flashing red LED.

42 is an error code for faulty "Lamp Sirocco Fan" part no. 299P321010. You have to replaced it with new one. I've saw it at shopjimmy.com ( http://www.shopjimmy.com/mitsubishi-299p321010-fan.htm )

TV has stopped working. The bulbs do not light up. The TV is 13 years old. Shall I throw it out? Thanks

Before you decide to throw it out have you tried checking the fuse at the back of the TV?
Could be only a blown fuse that's causing your tv not to switch on.
Good luck.

My display appears to be in "3D". It's doubled,

Likely, either one of two things:
1. Easy fix: Your color guns are out of alignment and need to be calibrated. This can be done from the menu.
2. Obnoxiously expensive problem: Bad IC Circuit. Throw out the TV because it's not worth the $800 to get it fixed.

Unable to clean

probably refers to a clogged print head. in the long run it would be cheaper to buy another unit instead of repairing old one.

I have the 52G786. These JVC HIDLA (LCoS) rear projection TV's are very trouble prone. Mine was in the shop 3 times in the first year. Now at three years old, the screen is getting dim then bright and flickering back and forth, but it's not the bulb.

You can now get a 50" 720p plasma for just under $1000, so that's the direction I am going. Fixing it is just asking to throw money out the door because it is likely to break again.

I have a 1998 Hitachi 50UX57B that suddenly shut off and will not turn back on. Bought the set new, no problems until now. Red "power on" light comes on briefly after set has been unplugged for...

This set has a problem most likeyl within the power supply or the horizontal output transistor has failed. In either case, the set will not completely power up. If you can solder and wish to attempt this repair yourself, please update this. Since remote diagnosis with little symptoms like yours at the momenet is difficult at best, I'd suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate (should be less than $100). Post the results here and we should be able to walk you through the actual repair.

When I try to print on A4 paper the Canon printer pulls on the right side of the paper only and it jams. I can still print on the small sheets (A5?) or on my 4 x 6 photo paper.

Check to see if this will affect your guarantee and if so would probably not go ahead with it.

Protect yourself from shock by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the Canon printer.

Unhinge the back access panel of the printer. .
Look through the opened back panel and look for paper or any other object that should not be there. Remove any paper or obstacle you find jammed there.
Close the back access panel. Make sure that it latches back into place.
Find the front or top access panel. This is the panel you would lift to change ink cartridges. Open this access panel and look for paper or any other object that should not be there
. Remove any paper or object you find jammed here. If you find paper pull slowly or the paper will rip and create a major problem.
Close the front access panel. Make sure that it latches back in place.

Put the power back on..

much to my suprise these tubes need to be re-juvenated with a crt shooter. this does not bode well with the so called king o the hill (sony). although after re-juvenating the tubes seem to hold up rather well.
