The electrical components in a PC generate heat, and fans inside the PC help move the air to keep the components from getting too hot. Excess heat will cause the fans to run constantly, damage components, and limit the speed of the CPU. All of these problems with high power and high heat will cause applications to work slower than normal. One of the main functions of the BIOS is to monitor the temperature and adjust the operating conditions. While the sound of the fan running all the time can be annoying, it may the first clue that your PC is running as efficiently as possible. To help your PC as cool and as efficiently as possible, do one or more of the following corrective actions.

  1. Update the BIOS
  2. Keep air vents clear and clean
  3. Minimize disk operation
  4. Minimize CPU operations
  5. Check whether FAN is enabled in BIOS
Thanks Rajesh

WHEN I TURN MY COMPUTER ON A ERROR MESSAGE COMES ON "CPU FAN TO LOW"

This message is a warning that the CPU cooling fan is no longer turning fast enough to adequately cool the CPU. You should not use your computer until the fan is replaced.or the CPU could be permanently damaged as a result of over-heating.

Unless you have replaced these fans before, I would advise you to have the fan replaced by a PC technician as it's pretty easy to damage the processor when removing/installing the fan.

Sad to say, you need a hard drive. The clicking sound you're hearing is typical of a drive that has gone bad. The monitoring message you see is from the motherboard's SMART monitoring, which checks several drive parameters and tells you when something is out of normal range. Often this gives some advance warning of a drive going bad, but this time it's just another sign the drive is already bad.

Installing a new hard drive is quite simple, with only two cables to plug in and some screws holding the drive in place. You will need to reinstall Windows and your applications since the new drive will be blank. There isn't anything you can do to repair the bad drive. If you have data on the drive that you don't have backed up on some other medium and you must have, there are companies that offer data recovery services. Just be aware it can be expensive.

Sorry I can't give you better news, but thanks for using Fixya.

CPU running slow - I think the pentium went into a slow mode when the CPU fan failed. Dell BIOS does not have an option to restore to normal speed as Phoenix BIOS does.

Do you ever get a warning of low virtual memory? If so, go to microsoft.com. Then type in yyour operating system. It will then give you the appropriate propram to clean it up.

hi there.
you need to change the first boot device in the "cmos setup" or when you boot your computer before it gets to that stage watch the lower bottom line of your machine there are some instructions to go to the cmos setup Toshiba is either F9 or F12. alternatively at this same stage choose the instruction temporary boot device and and move the highlighting to CD/DVD/DVR and click enter to start the computer from the cd rom
it will work.
thanks
