Contact your service provider and tell them the issue

  • UncleLouie Feb 13, 2011

"contact your service provider and tell them the issue" - lame answer.
I have the same problem with my adapter. Have no problem connecting laptops or my printer to the network wirelessly.

This is an issue with Ralink's firmware. Have not solved it yet, but I am still researching.

Lost install disk zone zew2508 80211g wireless usb adapter

When Zonet was in business, they did provide technical support for their products through an online support website.
However, since they're no longer operating, that site no longer exists. You'll now need to rely on other sources for drivers or your previous downloads and discs.
You may find some useful information in an archive copy of their site here.
Some readers have reported that Tenda, which is still in business, may have made much of the hardware for Zonet, meaning that the firmware and drivers available from that site may work for your Zonet hardware.

Windows xp driver link

Hi Nicolas,
Zonet is no longer in business but when they were, their website was www.zonenetusa.com
However, since they're no longer operating, that site no longer exists. You'll now need to rely on other sources for drivers or your previous downloads and discs.
Have you tried using the Windows Update to get the drivers?
Hope this helps,
Gary

I am experiencing a conflict between my wireless adapter and my wireless keyboard.

if your keyboard is acting erratically and it only happens when your wireless router is on, try changing the channel you are broadcasting your wifi signal on. In the US, there are 3 main channels that are typically used to avoid interference from the other 2. 1, 6 and 11. This will be changeable on your wireless router and without knowing what model you have I can't give you instructions.

However, if this only happens when your USB adapter is in, but wasn't happening before even with your wireless router on, then you may have some strange RF interference coming from it. Try to make sure you have your adapter as far away from your keyboard and receiver as possible.

Drivers for ubuntu?

Thank you for using FixYa
If you do not already have it then go to this web site for Ubuntu and load Ndiswrapper and follow the instructions.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper

I have ubuntu core and I recently bought a generic adaptor and plugged it in and it worked. I hope you have this success. Once you load it go into your control panel then system and look for "Windows Wireless Adaptor" tool and click on it.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Here's the driver and utility, zipped in one file. After download you'll need to unzip it and then run the installation of the drivers.

I Installed the software for the Zonet ZEW2508 on my laptop with windows xp home.. Now what? (I have an operating wireless router already)

Ignore the software and use the built-in wireless utility that comes with Windows to configure your network. There should be a small icon by the clock that looks like a radio antenna with waves, right-click it and select to 'View Available Wireless Networks'. The rest is self-explanatory.
If the Windows utility states that it is not managing your wireless networks, you'll need to disable the Zonet utility first. If you need help with that, let me know.
Good Luck!

How to fix intermittent wireless signal with Dell Inspiron 1501

It's the Wireless Zero Configuration service that's doing it. Every 10 minutes or so, the WZC service goes out and tries to look for wireless networks. During this time, it can sometimes disconnect from your wireless network. Usually its brief, merely a few seconds, but long enough to kick you out of games, messaging clients, etc.

There is no easy way to resolve this other than stopping the WZC service after startup and successful connection to your wireless. Unfortunately, if you disable this service altogether, your computer will never connect to any wireless and when looking at the Wireless networks list, it'll mention the WZC service is disabled.

You will also need to re-enable this service everytime you take your PC to places where you'll be connecting to other wireless networks. To stop this service, follow these steps:
  1. Go to Start -> Run -> and type "services.msc" (without quotes)
  2. Scroll to the very bottom of the list
  3. Right click on the Wireless Zero Configuration and choose stop
Once it stops, continue working with your wireless network. If you no longer have disconnection problems every 10 minutes roughly, you've solved your problem. Repeat the above steps after every reboot as the service will be re-enabled after the computer restarts.
