Take a look at the second half of this solution.
SOLUTION

I had a similar problem. I had a 52" RCArear projection tv. It would do this when I initially turned on the television, but then after a few "on/off, on/off, on/off" cycles it would stay on. Eventually it started doing it more; until finally there was a spark and that was it. The tv was dead.The bloggers called it "the blinking green light of death" (because of green light on the panel).The power board is going out.ALSO holding down the Input and Menu buttons afterward will give you some diagnostic information via 2 sets of blinking indicator lights.

You may very well have issues with capacitors on this set being that it is or very similar to the V26 chassis. Since I have spare test lamps laying around, I would normally try that first. If the lamp still would not stay lit, I would then suspect the electrical chassis (capacitors). When I suspect the chassis, I can usually verify it by pulling it out and partially disassemble it and find blown capacitors

The tv is 2 years old. it would turn off after turning on by itself. this happened for 2 days. it would stay on afetr you turned it on a couple times. then the next day wouldnt turn on at all

Had the same issue with my Vizio Plasma VP322HDTV10A. At power up it would turn on and off a number of times before it would stay on. In thinking it might be the power cord, I pulled it out and replaced it with a spare I had and it would not power up what so ever. I opened up the case and traced the the internal power coord to it's source and this lead to the main power supply board. I found three capacitors on this board with buldges on them (which the tops of the capacitors should be flat). I found a web side (SHOPJIMMY.COM) which had the parts I needed to repair the TV myself. the following is how much it cost to replace the needed parts

LG EAY42539401 Power Supply

$ 67.16

Vizio VP322HDTV10A Cable Kit

Subtotal

$ 96.52

Vp322hdtv10a vizion tv doesnt power on and prior to keeps flickering on and off

Your power supply board needs to be REPAIRED not REPLACED, replacing the board will just make the problem happen again in two years or less, if you can use a screwdriver you can send me the board and I will repair it for less than it would cost you to do it yourself ($50) with the correct components. Dell w4201c hdtv plasma tv BLACK SCREEN, LOGO FADES OUT, SOUND REMIANS, HELPPPPPPP

the problem was the y-sus board, i had a local tv repair shop diagnos that much for me. although, he couldn't fix it i did some research and found a company in california, itritek.com, who could. you send him the y-sus board and the two buffer boards and he not only repairs them but he upgrades them. apparently the y-sus board gets too much heat and eventually goes out, sometimes the buffer boards are affected too. itritek.com replaces the components on the y-sus board with better parts which are more heat resistent. i believe this will help you with your problem. let me know...good luck.

Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider

When watching dvd having showing or fade background

yes it can be down to signal degradation especially via scart lead, make sure you use a decent scart if you buy an expensive one you can tell the difference. Run a cable from your sky digibox direct to your tv to see if the picture improves.

RCA 32" TV - Model #32F531T - Faded to black

Isolate filament voltage from CRT,i.e. unplug Crt socket from pix tube.Measure filament voltage on CRT PCB.If present,suspect bad pix tube.If missing,solder any/all connects in filament circuit,meaning CRT board first then main PCB.
