Monitor won't work with new computer

I have HP Pavilion monitors mx70 and f1703 - neither will work with my new HP dx7400 SFF computer but both work fine with my pavilion 720a why ? Do I need to buy another monitor ? if so what should I be looking for ? I have put the wrong product in the box below - mine wasn't listed.

Thanks for your suggestion, however there is only one monitor connection present.

Turns out Etherelean was correct and all I needed was an adaptor to connect the f1703 to the second monitor plug. Thanks !

The computer in question has two graphics cards in it. A GEForce 8400GS Graphics card and an onboard graphics card. It could be possible you are plugging the monitor cable into the wrong graphics card slot. The onboard graphics card slot may be a different color than the GEForce graphics card slot. Check the back of the computer to see if there is another spot to plug in the monitor.

I have an HP pavilion s5310y slimline. I live in a small home and would like to get a pc monitor that works as a computer monitor. Can I do this with this computer and if so what should I buy that is...

Hi, i've looked up the specifications for that desktop ( the s5310y slimline), and i'd like to let you know that it has a VGA video output on the back. Go to walmart and tell them you need a 'VGA monitor'. Or ask a friend, etc, go on ebay, there are several options.
VGA is getting quite old, and should not be difficult to find. You will also need to purchase a VGA cable to go between the monitor and computer.

Dell HP Pavilion screen scrambled

Either your monitor died or your video card/chip died. Test your tower with a different monitor or test your monitor with a different tower.

Monitor won't go on

What to you mean by Monitor won't go on? Are you saying the power on the monitor will not turn on? Are you saying the Monitor is on, but there is nothing showing on the screen? Also it would help if we know what kind of computer and what operating system.

Hp pavilion dv9000 blackscreen and no chimes but works with spare monitor

Change settings of video card. Sounds like your spare monitor drivers are correct but other monitor are not. Other possible that it recognizes the spare monitor as the default and disables the on board monitor. Try restarting without the spare attached. It will have no choice but to change on board monitor to default

I have a hp pavilion ze 2000 and when I turn it on the two lights by the scroll and caps lock key blink and the screen stays blank. Please help me!

Hello, I'd start by hooking up another external monitor, that way you can rule out if your video/graphics card is working. If the new monitor works that means your video card is fine and you'll need to look at replacing your current monitor Good luck, mpawlak908

Hp pavilion 900017' when monitor IS ON , hAS NO IMAGE

Hi,

this will be a graphics Chip/Card problem. or motherboard problem.
Check and reseat CPU. And RAM ( memory )
Also try plugging an external monitor in, and checking to see if there is a display on an external monitor.
refer to the manufacturers user guide, for how to do this.

Thankyou for using Fixya.
