This means your mic has a short in the wire or is broken somewhere. Im pretty sure the skull candy lowrider headphones don't have a built-in mic. If this is your problem than you need to buy a mic.

The thing what i do is
1) Put your mic on
2) Leave the game
3) re-join the game
4) Hold ps or xbox button
5) turn off consle
6) Leave mic on
7) turn on consle
8) set up Minecraft ps3 edition or xbox
9) Join friend
10) turn mic off
11) turn mic on
You mean without the headset on? I've had the same problems with mine without a headset on. I've noticed some tvs have to be louder then others for you to hear the in game chats.
I believe you have him or her on you block list..as in you cant communicate with them....find there name in your friends and check if you have it set to "MUTE" player
