I have a HP photosmart C6180 all-in-one and I am trying to scan a picture onto the computer but every time I go to the scan menu it says Error: Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.)

I have exactly the same problem with my HP C4180. Printer works fine, but when I click on HP Scanpro, I get the same comment - "Sorry. Scanner could not be initialized..etc." Is there a simpler way to get the scanner back than to erase everything to do with HP in my files?

I get this every now and then, usually because, during a scan, I abort for some reason--reset the computer, force-quit, whatever.  The printer driver, I think, leaves some breadcrumbs that it can't recover from when it runs again.
Anyway, I reset the printing system and install the latest HP driver.  If that doesn't work, I delete the HP folder in the Applications folder; then remove whatever files I can find in the /Library folder such as Application Support/Hewlett-Packard, Application Support/HP, any HP file in Preferences, Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/HPScanPro.ds.
Then reinstall the driver and things work fine.  I'm thinking this last item, the HPScanPro.ds in the TWAIN folder might be the culprit but I haven't tried just remove it alone--after I remove everything things work so I can't "try it again"...and don't want to!  =)
Anyway, I've had success with this method.  Good luck!

I have a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-one printer and I cannot scan

You should go to www.hp.com and download the latest drivers for your printer. Look under support for drivers.

To have the cleanest install, I would remove the printer from your printers (press delete on the icon) in printers and faxes.

Also, under add/remove programs, remove the hp software associated with the printer.

I'm can't load the software for my HP AIO Photosmart C6180. Get a MSI error that I can not repair. Need some help here.

Hi Try downloading the software from the HP website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ph〈=en&product=1153494& then run the setup on the downloaded file, if you have vista or windows 7 then right click on the setup file and select run as administrator. Hopefully this will solve the msi error, if it does not, please tell me exactly what error you receive.

How do i get my printer hp photosmart c6180 set up with my computer so that i can scan pictures from it to my computer

These instructions will help you install the HP software in Windows XP - make sure you choose the FULL driver install (explained on the link). The basic driver does not provide any HP scanning software.

If you want to scan pictures without installing any HP software, Windows has some built in scanning features.

For XP...

For Vista...

Wireless HP 6180 PhotoSmart All in ONe will not scan document to my computer

Well its the issue with the printer drivers taking a dynamic ip address.all you need to do is uninstall the printer network drivers, insert the s/w cd that came with the printer and then click on add a device ,it would install the printer drivers all over again.
