Hello
Have you tried going to control panel, network and sharing center.

Once there, make sure all pcs are on the same network, either homgroup or public.

Your daughters needs to be on the same network as the others. Also be sure the firewall is not blocking any connections.

You may also want to reboot the router do this by...
1 shut down all pcs
2 Unplug all cables from router including power.
3 Let router set for a min then plug all cables back in and power up
4 Once you get stedy lights on router restart pcs.

Cannot connect to internet through netgear n300 wireless router

They are pretty straight forward. Connect the ISP modem to main uplink port. Then connect pc to any other port. Done!

Try resetting it by holding the reset in till it cycles through. This will clear all custom setting and try again.

I normally don't suggest firmware upgrades, but try updating.

192.168.0.1 Defual login if you cleared custom is User: admin Password: admin

Other than that the unit is damaged / defective.

My daughter is trying to use her laptop at home. where do I find the security code for my netgear router

The encryption code is configured in the wireless settings.
Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on your computer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password You can now change the default admin password and configure the wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

Pretty simple. It should be set to auto discovery. As long as the WiFi is working ie switched on you shoyuld find your home network pretty easiily. You do need ot knwo the SSID (the name of the network adn teh pasword. Right click on the wireless icon in teh tray to the bottom right adn show the list of netwoprk sits found. One of those should be yours. Simply 'connect' to the network adn entire the Passphrasethat was preassigned when you set up the network an it should automagically connect.

Laptop can not connect to netgear wireless router

I would suggest using the network setup wizard, in the control panel. Best option is to copy the data to a pen drive and transfer to your daughters laptop.

I ordered a wireless router so I can hook up my PS3. My computer is not compatible with wifi so I thought I'd just leave it hooked up to the modem. The instructions tell me to put the CD into my computer...

You have to use the computer to insert the CD

As your computer is not wireless compatible, you can have this connected to the router itself on the wired connections and use PS3 on wireless
Do NOT connect your computer to modem and also Netgear to modem.
Either one of them won't work. Instead connect modem to Netgear and computer to Netgear with an ethernet cable.
After this type of connection is made, try to setup the router with the CD inserted into computer.

This is how things work!
