If you're using the software that came with the camera, it may be looking for new pictures only.

Check the settings on the PC.

I keep getting a communication error when I connect my SD870 to the computer. I completely uninstalled the canon software and reloaded. Still having problem. I can't find my Canon USB cord but using one...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Does "memory card full" mean you have to purchase another for canon powershot sd750 or can you erase?

You can either erase the pictures or transfer them to a computer using the supplied USB cable or remove the flash memory and insert directly into the computer's sd card port.

Memory card is full but there are no pictures on my camera.

Try using the "format" option in your camera's menu. That should wipe the card clean. There's probably a file or folder that the camera can't recognize as being one it created. You might also plug the card into a card reader and open it on a computer. The format option on the computer will also wipe the card clean to start fresh in the camera.

Connect the USB cable and turn on the camera, open My Computer, you will see an camera icon 'Canon xxxxxx'. double click this icon, all pictures will show up, select the pictures then drag them to your folder. Just like you copy files from this folder to another folder:-)

Communication error when uploading pictures on computer

I had the same problem. My problem was that there were more than 1,000 images stored on the memory card. Once I deleted some of the images from the camera memory card, I was able to download pictures again.
