I have a Toshiba Satellite P200-140 PSPBOE Notebook. I have tried to increase the standard 2Gb RAM to 4Gb by having 2 x 2Gb chips installed at various suppliers, but my Toshiba does not recognise anything more than 2Gb and does not even start up when more than 2Gb is inserted, even after downloading BIOS version 1.7. When viewing specs, it is aparantly upgradable to 4Gb. This has become an urgent problem for me, please assist.
I have a Dual-Core setup. How much strinage should I apply to each?

-   Grrrrr,
Is there any possible way I can increase my memory? My notebook is getting slower by the day.
I
inserted two 2 gig cards hopeing to sovle my memory problem but now my
notebook wont even start up. I have updated my Bios software with v 1.7 and no
change. I also placed 1 2gig card in and it worked but when I added a further 1gig (or 2gig) then my notebook couldn't start up.

Sunday, April 13, 2009 To whom it may of concern, Herewith I have to bring forward my disappointment that after a day of work, I could not close my notebook Toshiba Satellite P20 (Serial number: 74353716K; Part number: PSP26L-0PPJ9; Made in China; with Windows XP Home Edition), because of an enormous cracking noise. Screws and other little parts were jumping around. The hinges at the backside of the casing were totally deformed; this may be caused by the outgoing flow of the generated heat. I therefore was obliged to left my notebook open and had to bring it to the shop were I have bought it. They brought it to a center of repair in Jakarta, the costs of repair were quite high, i.e., IDR 4.75 million and it took more than two months to have the job done and with no warranty! The main issue is that there is something seriously wrong with the management of the generated heat. Here is a feature where one has obviously to deal with a wrong design of this P20 model. This is very sad, since this P20 is my workhorse and I am very happy with its specifications. With this letter I hope to contribute to an improved design of the notebook Toshiba Satellite P20. comier957, Thank you for your attempt to help me with my problem. You offered a solution and asked me to let you know. I attempted to let you know what I had done but do not know if you received my reply. Thought I knew how to send it but it did not post under my original question. . Anyway, I had one SATA burner in port 1 and one SATA burner in port 3. Since I posted the question I traded one SATA burner for a Samsung IDE burner giving me 1 SATA Burner and 2 IDE Burners. Each of them seems to work as it should. Sorry I "jumped the gun" and made the trade. You most likely could have solved my issue. Thanks
