Question about Casio Exilim EX-V7 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera won't upload pictures to the computer.

It keeps saying "Generating Preview..." and it never loads the image. Pictures taken work fine. I tried the Copy Pictures To A Folder On My Computer program and it says an error occurred. And it says Retry, Skip, or Skip All.
Please help me!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Not working on preview

did you save the pictures into the card and not the cameras memory?

If you plug the card into your pc with a card reader you can have a look inside and also there are file recovery programs available if the card has gotten corrupt but the pictures where saved in it so it can be saved. but if no pictures are saved into the card then tehre is noting to recover,

My Nikon D60 monitor is dark...no image preview, however, playback for viewing pictures taken works fine. I use the viewfinder for taking pictures, but wonder if I've done something to turn off the monitor...

No, you have done nothing wrong. The D60 does not have the preview function on the monitor like the compact digital cameras. Nikon gave that function a name. It is called 'Live View'. The newr models like the D90 do have that feature. You can read further about your D60 here: www.digitalcamera-hq.com

Try getting a card reader, they are cheap. It sounds like the software is having a problem communicating.

Memory card malfunction...

If the photos are important the first thing you want to do is get a memory card reader and use it to get the pictures off the card. A SD card reader can be found for about $5 bucks online and it will let you simply COPY and paste the pictures onto a folder on your computer. Make sure you COPY and not CUT because in case something goes wrong during the transfer you won't lose your precious photos.

It is possible that the camera driver is corrupted or deleted on your computer. Honestly it is not worth the hassle to deal with the camera drivers... it is much easier (and faster) to transfer the photos using a card reader.

You have loaded images previously- so it works OK huh! Your are Windows XP/2000 -tell me Remove any software you may have loaded that came with the camera, Now plus the camera in, switch it to the 'upload position' and it should appear in my computer as an extra drive - and/or Camera/Scanner wizard will come up and ask what to do next. If you have the CD - there is a manual on it in PDF format- you do not need any software to load images.
