Bernina bernette 65 tension

I cant get the tension right on my bernina bernette 65. the manual suggests that the dial should be on 4 but it is too tight so ive tried 3 and 2 and in between. the slightest movement either makes it too tight or too loose. after a billion of test runs on every dial combination possible i finally found the best one but now after sewing for awhile the tension has gone and i cant get it right again.

I bought attachements feet for my bernette 65 and wanted to finish my seams correctly and using the attachment feet I am having problems. I have the seam finishing attachment and It is either too loose or two tight and then I get alot of extra loops and snags. I am concerned because I am making bridesmaid dress and my daughters wedding dress. Is it the material I am using? I have Taffeta for my daughters dress and then I have silk for the bridesmaid dress and really want the seams to be finished and look nice. Any suggestions.

I have the same problems with my tension. It has to be a mechanical/manufacturing fault. I have had my machine completly replaced 4 times. Each machine has the same problem. I have just got my machine back from a service again. This time i am getting rid of it.

How do I turn off THE BOBBIN winder on a Bernette 65 sewing machine?

The bobbin spindle needs to be moved to the left in the slot to disengage the winding mechanism. (It may be easier to do this with the bobbin on the spindle. The bobbin and spindle should be moved to the right after putting the bobbin on for winding.)

The directions and pictures for winding the bobbin are on page 30-31 of the manual. The manual is available from Bernina on their support page for the out-of-print Bernette machine manuals: . . The direct link to the Bernette 65 manual is here: .

I hope this helps.

How to insert bobbin in a bernette 680 sewing machine?

Try going to this link and download the manual for either the Bernette 410 or 715 and look at the directions for threading and inserting the bobbin:

Bernina may not have a manual for your particular model, but these models may be close enough that you can still use the directions for your machine.

My Bernina Bernette 65 has a problem with the thread bunching up every 10-15 stiches on the bottom. Some of the thread stitches on the bottom of the fabric are in a straight line, and then the thread will...

try a new needle--one that is for the fabric being sewed
then try to adjust the top thread tension again, if the stitches remain loose and the tension won't adjust then the tension knob needs to be checked to see if there is something wrong with it.
also check to make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, if the bobbin is not turned the right way in the bobbin case the sewing machine will not stitch correctly.

I have a bernette 134 d overlocker and need the settings to work with it can you help me please

If you don't have a manual to check this, contact Ron at The settings on your dials should be
all set on 4. This number should be highlighted or marked different from the other ones. Look for the little notch (or arrow) on the machine and line that up with the 4. Make sure the threads are under the tension discs which are under the dials. When threading pretend you're flossing and pull the thread back and forth so you can feel the slight tension on the thread. Make sure your presser foot is up when you thread the machine. Your stitch length should be about 3 and the stitch width 5 and the differential on 1. These are basic settings for all sergers and you might have to play with them to get a good stitch. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
