Question about Hitachi 50UX57B 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Used Screens I noticed in some of your posts that you have a source for used screens. Both Screens and the Protective Shield are ruined. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

White out correction fuid on lcd tv screen

Use no cleaners with chemicals in them--permanent damage will happen---there are special cleaners and towels for this--not sure where you are but call one of the large electronic stores---they usually have and sell cleaning kits for this type of set. When cleaning be patient and do not rub too hard and go slow.

Most of the screens have a anti-glare protective coating and can be damaged easily.

The screen shield of my mitsubishi HD 1080 diamond projection tv is scratched and shows rainbow color dots in some places. What can I do? Can I fix it? Replace it?

The outer screen on most models is clear and called a protective screen and prevents glare---if it has that it has 2 more screens behind it.

Getting at the outer on is not so easy---the entire frame for the screens has to be removed, the inner screens removed to get at the outer screen to remove it (if 3 screens you can do without the outer one except if it got scratched before--next will be the next screen behind it.

Check with mitsubishi to see if the screen that is damaged is available or not.

Im trying to find the ultra shield screen for a 65F59A Hiiachi projection. part no. KRo2076

I think you will find it is not available or sold apart from the two inner screens.

A option is to find and buy a piece of similar plexi-glass as that is only a anti glare protective screen.

Measure it carefully and do some research.

Where do I get a new hitachi tv screen because mine has a crack in it?

Your best bet is to check with local repair shops and see if they may have a used one as these screens are rather expensive. These screens are actually lenses. Also they are two, sometimes three layers thick. The two layer screen is composed of a Lenticular (outside) and Fresnel (inside) lense. The third layer sometimes used is in front of both of these and is a protective screen. You can live without this one if necessary.

Diamond screen

Not sure why you want to remove the protective screen but to do this you have to remove the entire screen with frame and all 3 screens from the set. remove speaker grill(s) on front of set; you will find if the front control board is in the frame of the screen you will have to locate one or two plugs to disconnect the keyboard--the wires usually go down in past an inspection plate and can be unplugged(they are marked with letters and if two, they will be different so you cannot get them in the wrong way).

With the keyboard unplugged you will find several black philips screws on the bottom edge of the screen frame(left to right under it). Remove these and with help lift the screen unit(frame and screens) up about 4 inchs(it hooks inside on notched holders) It will then come out.

Now the hard part---most of these sets you have to remove both inner screens and even take the screen frame apart to get at the front screen---any finger prints on the screen may show in the picture.. The protective Screen is in a slot all the way around--I have seen a few who tried to pry it out from the front and either damaged the frame or the screens.

Again, I am not sure why you want to remove the outer protective screen---but just be careful if you do---those inner screens are very expensive if you have to replace them.

If this has been helpful at all--give me a vote here---I do this for free.

I would suggest contacting the local Tv repair shops in your area to see if one is available used, as many shops save the screen assembly when they disassemble a set that isnt worth repairing. It may be available through Hitachi, but doubtful. I have sources for screen assemblies but unfortunately not the 65 in screens.

Yes there are several and the ones I am posting for you have been used by folks who I know. You will most likely need to get the telephone number and call around, and they will probably need the exact dimensions of the screen good Luck http://www.projectorcentral.com/screen-suppliers.htm http://www.screens-usa.com/largescreendisplays/index.php http://catalogs.infocommiq.com/AVCat/mcs.cfm?mlc_id=223&SID=972124&mrc_id=1495&SUBCATID=1170
