Blinking amber light xps 420

A Blinking Amber orYellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from thesource but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can becaused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to makesure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cablesto CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Xp420 dell doesnt boot just a solid amber light on mother board high rpm on fan that doesnt slow no picture on screen....?????

Solid Amber light is a No-Boot scenario for all DELL PC. It may be either Power Supply, motherboard, memory or Proc. If you try to call Dell customer support they might try to let you isolate the problem by opening up your pc. But they will replace the parts necessary if they found out that its broken and your XPS is still under warranty.

You can call 1-800-232-8544 be sure to have you Service Tag or Express Service code ready.

Dell 4700 desktop, will not boot up. Light remains

A solid Amber power LED is an indication of a motherboard problem. Remove any external connections and see if LED indications change. If no change, remove all PCI expansion cards, try again. If still no go, disconnect all drives, try again. If still no change, ensure the CPU heatsink is firmly attached (If loose you need to replace the retention module) If nothing loose and no changes from other steps, replace motherboard

I removed memory while computer was on, now it wont power on and boot a solid amber light stays on. how can i get my computer to work

While PC was on? You might have damaged the whole motherboard.

Try removing all non-essential devices and booting it to minimal. Try another stick of RAM. IF still nothing, the motherboard will need replacing,.

DELL XPS 210 WONT POWER ON. NO PROBLEM LIGHTS ON FRONT OF PC. ONLY GREEN LIGHT ON MOTHERBOARD LIGHTS UP.

The power supply may have gone south or there may be an overload on the motherboard, memory or one of the drives. Unplug one drive and restart, then another and another. Remove the memory and retry. If still nothing, try another supply. If still nothing, you may need professional help.

Solid amber light. No power to the system just the fan runs.

Solid amber light means the CPU is not being powered properly, that is USUALLY a bad power supply. Contact Dell and order another power supply. if that doesnt fix it, you have a bum board. (usually, you will see popped capacitors on the board if its bad). I will say, that in about 70% of these, its a bad power supply. power supplys arent cheap (unless you have a warranty of course) but they wont break the bank. a replacement is likely going to be about 40-70 dollars. I havent priced it, but you can ask dell at dell.com/chat. Good luck.

Pc does not always boot up

A solid or blinking Amber power button indicates a voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

No power

Unplug All External Devices Unplug the AC Adapter From the Wall Outlet. Disconnect the AC Adapter From the Laptop Reseated the power cable to the adapter.
Remove the Battery Connect the AC Adapter Directly to a Known Good Outlet, But Not to the Computer Verify That the AC Power Adapter Has a Solid Green or Blue Light.
The AC adapter status light is solid green. The AC adapter status light is solid green.Press the Power Button and Check for POST. Post means if you see the dell logo, remove the battery, plug the ac if still it wont turn on or doesnt have any light,Reseat the Memory if after reseatting the memory still the same problem it might be a bad motherboard.
