If the error indicator light is lit, then the Canon printer is jammed. To fix a paper jam you must remove the paper tray, disconnect the AC power adapter, wait 5 seconds, then plug the printer back in. If the jammed paper does not automatically eject, carefully remove the paper manually. To help prevent further jamming, fan the paper in the paper tray to prevent the paper sticking together.

When you order a print from the laptop, it gets the paper from the paper tray. When you copy, the paper has a slightly different path it follows to deliver your printed result. Try to put the document in the tray with the blank pages and see if it also jams! Let me know what you find out!!

Sounds like the fixing exit sensor flag is missing or broken. I would look into that and just a note... I had a strange jamming problem with one as well. It turned out to be the registration clutch. I cleaned the clutch and it worked......

Check the rear of the printer, there is a flip down panel that exposes the fuser exit and redrive assbly (delivers the paper to the exit rollers). The paper sensors are little black plastic flags that swing in and out of optical sensors.

What this light sequence means that the printer has a paper jam.

When a paper jam occurs, the printer stops and the operator panel's Paper Jam light and Continue button lights come on. Press and release Continue twice quickly to display the specific secondary error paper jam light sequence.

How to clear Paper Jam

?· Press Continue button twice quickly to see the secondary error code.

To get the secondary error codes

?· When the Error light (!) and Continue button lights are both on, a secondary error has occurred.

?· When the Paper Jam light (4th light) and Continue button lights are both on, a paper jam secondary error has occurred.

?· Press and release Continue button twice quickly to display the secondary error code light sequence.

Press Continue button to resume printing once all the jammed pages are cleared from the paper path.

We recommend that you clear the entire paper path when a paper jam occurs.

To clear a paper jam:

1 If you are feeding paper from a tray, remove the tray, and then remove any jams.

2 Open the front cover and remove the print cartridge assembly.

NOTE: Do not leave the print cartridge assembly exposed to direct light for an Extended period of time. Extended light exposure can cause print quality problems.

3 Remove any jams in the area behind the print cartridge assembly.

4 Lift the flap at the front of the printer and remove any jams beneath the flap.

5 Open the rear exit and remove any jams.

6 After you have cleared the jams, reinstall the print cartridge assembly, make sure all printer covers and trays are closed, and then press Continue button to resume printing.

NOTE: The printer reprints the pages that caused the paper jam.

If you get a paper jam, the Paper Jam indicator light promptsyou to clear the paper path. If the paper has just started to feed from thepaper feeder when the jam occurs, pull the paper straight up out of the paper feeder. Open and close the printer cover toresume printing. If the paper jam occurs inside the printer, remove the paper from the output bin. Turn the printeroff, then on. The paper sensor in tray 2 is flipped or broken.

Is this paper the same weight/thickness as the white paper?
Are you specifying the settings properly as far as the weight and type?
It sounds like the sensors are detecting a double feed(?)
Try different settings for the tray, and even try a different brand of stock to verify.
