I looked for the 1220 and couldn't find it at Walgreens, Walmart, or Target. I'm going to try Radio Shack or a camera store. The battery is in the battery compartment, which contains the AAs, the memory card, and a little plastic cover that says CR 1220. You have to get a fingernail under the tab to pull the battery slot out. It's a tiny button-size. If you do a google search for Powershot 650 change battery cr1220, you'll find a site with a picture on it.

How to remove flat battery from canon power shot A550

Look at the little door labeled CR1220 in this picture. Pry it open with your fingernail, and take the battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement (should be around $3).. Note that W-mart for some reason is expensive for the common CR1220 battery compared to retail drug stores.

Every time I turn on my Canon A540 Powershot I get the black date/time screen. The date/time is all zero (the photo properties default to 1 Jan 1980) and I have to either enter the date/time or press...

Inside the battery compartment, right beside the AA batteries, there's a tiny little door labeled CR1220 (see this picture). Pry the door open with your fingernail, remove the little button battery located there, and take this battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement camera clock battery. Remember, it's a "CR1220" battery. It should cost only about $4.

I have a Canon Powershot A560. The date and time stamp do not work. I checked the manual and it says to replace the battery located under the flip-up panel on the left side of the camera. I can not...

Think your problem is that you are looking in the wrong spot. Don't know why your manual is telling you to look there (are you sure your manual is for the A560)?
Your CR1220 date/time battery is located in the regular battery compartment. Look right beside your AA batteries. You'll see a little flap labeled "CR1220". Slide this open with your fingernail, and take the little coin battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement.

Keep getting change battery message and camera turns off.

Hi,

I had this on mine. If you pen the battery compartment door, you will see a piece of plastic labelled "CR1220". You can pull this out and replace the little CR1220 battery that it holds. That ought to solve your problem.

Each time I power the camera on to take photos I need to reset the time and date. Is there an internal battery that is malfunctioning? Any other ideas that may be causing this? Thanks

Yes,more than likely there is a little button cell battery that powers the date and time. You'll have to look in your manual to find its location.I just discovered my battery is dead.Yep i checked the manual even tho i already knew where to find it.Took some reading to find but it was there in the manal. Its located in the battery compartment on my canon A720IS.Mine takes a CR 1220 - 3Volt.I'm still trying to find a replacement.Guess i'll have to go to a camera store to get the battery.Couldn't find at any of the usall places.Hope this helps someone,Gary Malcontent

My Canon S2 IS keeps saying 'change the battery' even if I put the new batteries in. Why...? Thanks.

there is a little coing battery located inside the battery compartment for the AA's. CR1220 you can get this at Radio Shack for about $5. If this battery is bad you will get the change batteries screen no matter how many fresh AA's you put in, Use a good quality alkaline battery such as the Energizer rechargable rated at 2700 mAh.

Date and time

When you open the battery compartment, there is a small round battery(under the cr1220) slot, lift up this slot and take the battery out and replace it, this is the battery for that function of the camera.
