Question about Hoover U6616-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Hoover self propelled upright

Your answers seem so very clear. My problem is that the self propeled feature only works in one direction. I assume that there is a cable that controls the direction. Can you tell me how to replace or repair? Thanks

Thank you very much. I see the cable and now will be able to fix the problem. I must tend to make the problem bigger as I was thinking the whole lower assembly would need to be dismantled.

Anyway, thanks again for the excellent advice and the prompt reply.

You can adjust the cable, it is from the front, on the right side, it has a torz screw that you loosen, then you can slide the cable back and forth, just move it alittle back then tighten it down and try it. Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------
The self-propel feature operates only when the cleaner switch and the self propel button are both ON. ---------- Try this settings and check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Check the plastic part, which the the self propelled cable is attached to. (release the handle, tilt it back. You should be able to see the cable attached by a screw to a black plastic arm.) It is either broken or the cable is lose.

Self propelled feature does not work. I replaced

There is a cable from the handle down to the transmission on this machine that breaks all the time or the cable is mounted to a plastic piece that is broken. That will need to be replaced.

Self Propel doesn't work on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

Self propel feature broke on Hoover Tempo Widepath

Sounds like the tie has loosened the belt off. You may have to check under neath the sole plate by removing screws and having a look. If the belt is broken it will have to be replaced. If its not broken check that it hasn't moved within the gear assembly of the self propel mechanism. Fit everything back together and it should work after that.

Hoover self-propelled

No suction on Windtunnel 6630-900. All belts work, brush turns, it just won't pick up anything.
